frick off. That is loaded for a college student.

Meh. I guess. But most people in this thread were in the same situation no matter how much they try to embellish how "poor" they were.

If you had less than $1000 but you "still had money for beer" and going out, etc. then you were probably in the same situation where you knew you could rely on Mom and Dad for rent/food money.

Rent was paid for by my parents, but it was never more than $400 and I never had close to $1k in spending money in college. I could "afford" beer because I'd buy $14.99 30-packs of keystone light and $12 handles of whiskey. Then I'd live off Taco Bell dollar menu, Totino's, and Ramen.

I'd get wasted on my own supply at home, go to the bar and get a couple beers to coast.

Never having less than $1k in your bank account in college is pretty damn flush.

after getting kicked to the curb by a female. let me digress...just like a man should never hit a woman, a woman should never kick a man to the curb.

So after being kicked to the curb, I took my paycheck to the bank to open up a checking account. They gave me a temporary check book until my order of checks came in. When I went to Wal-Mart to by cereal and milk, Wal-Mart said they don't take temporary checks.

I was so poor at that moment that I could not buy cereal and milk.

I didn't have mom and dad to rely on for anything in college cause they are poor. Student loans, credit cards and working 2 jobs is what I relied on.... and I didn't live with my parents then either.

I would have LOVED to have $1000 in the bank back then.

I can remember scrounging all over my apt and car for spare change and rolling it up to take to bank to cash so I could buy groceries,

In college anything more than $200 in the bank was rich for me.

Top of the line strippers make 6-figures.

Not that you have that kind of talent or anything.

I agree. Mom and dad don't keep a lot of money in my account but I can still do whatever I want within reason.

My dad took my credit card one month....worst month of my life

I even applied for a student loan but he gave it back by the time it came in so I took a vacation with it

This is a description of someone who was truly poor.

The first month I was in NYC on my own after college. My parents helped me out throughout college so I was never really poor, even if I could have used more.

In NYC in 2006, making 60K or so, sharing a 3BR converted to a 4BR, and I couldn't even afford a bed until my 2nd pay check

Well good for them then. I never wanted the words "back when I used to strip " to ever come out of my mouth. At least I could keep my self respect and not resort to taking my clothes off for money. I was poor, I didn't have daddy issues.

I remember having a balance of 6 dollars in my account one time in college and not getting paid for another 10 days. Hard times.
