I actually really like this movie, despite the breakaways from the comics.
Rorschach was probably the best part of the entire movie, except for the best opening credits of any movie ever made.
LINK
Also, the fight scenes were very well done. The scene where they rescue Rorschach from the prison is pretty badass.
It definitely deserves higher than the 65% it got on Rotten Tomatoes and 56% it got on Metacritic.

I havent seen it since i was like 16 so all i remember are very pointy nipples, blue penis, (not) batman and exploding Rorschach.

Great movie. I have the special edition dvd with all the extra stuff, I like the theatrical cut better.

It's a pretty long movie, but otherwise was a really great movie and Rorschach was awesome in it, I agree. Plus the chick who played Silk Spectre II was hot as frick.

Malin Ackerman's o face is great, her acting not so much

Is it fricked up I completely agree with Ozymandias and think he was totally justified for what he did?

I see it as a fine companion piece to the novel, but it just doesn't work that great as a movie. It's long and still manages to feel rushed. It wants to feel like Blade Runner but has these corny, overly-stylized fight scenes with cartooney violence, hence the tone is all over the place. Some really bad, distracting performances too. The Comedian is the most interesting character in the movie, and it hurts when he's not on screen. The movie wants to be weird but wouldn't commit to the weirdest part of the book, and Jon frame-up doesn't work. The destruction of NY hits with a huge thud.
In the end, Snyder didn't want to make a movie that existed as its own thing, with its own identity. He made the book and it only half works.

Saw this movie 3 times in theaters and bought the bluray the day it came out.
Its.my all time favorite super hero movie.
Every character is great and you can watch the movie 100 times and still catch little things you didn't realize that add depth to the characters.

Went and saw it at midnight and fell asleep. Was boring as hell

I thought this movie was absolutely terrible.

I remember being underwhelmed after seeing it in the theater, but liking it more after a couple more viewings. Now I think its a pretty solid movie.

I think most of the dislike for this movie comes from people who read the novel/comic. I didn't read it so I absolutely love this movie

Nope. The whole idea doesn't work without the squid.
The WHOLE point of the plan was to unite the world against an alien attack.
The problem with switching the squid to Dr Manhattan is that we all know that Dr. Manhattan is omnipotent.
There is no hope. He can't be defeated. The squid could be defeated.
I still like the movie although it just didn't live up to the awesomeness of the first trailer.

It's one of my favorite films and I watch it repeatedly. It's one of the few films that I keep on my phone and other devices.
The first trailer is at the top of my list of movie trailers. The Friday that they released the trailer, I watched it over and over for the entire afternoon. It is also on my phone.
It isn't a perfect film or adaptation, but Snyder did the best that he could do. I'm not a total fan of the music selection and the casting of Silk Spectre, but other than that I have no problems with it.
There are scenes and segments that are so close to the comic, it's just uncanny. The filmed origin of Dr. Manhattan still gives me chills.
I can understand fans of the comic being upset. Reading those issues as they were originally released was heart wrenching and made a huge impact on everyone. But Snyder had to make some hard choices and I think he made them correctly.
When the film came out I had to buy multiple copies of the TPB. My kids' friends kept borrowing mine, so I just gave them copies to lend out.

I can't think of one better.
The Dr. Manhattan origins scene is my favorite part of the movie. I'll pop the bluray in just to watch that scene.

My biggest gripe with this movie is the soundtrack.
It's so literal and hackish on Snyder's part.
"Hey, this scene depicts ______, let's find a song with that either in the title or the lyrics. That'll work!"

I love it. I watch the Ultimate cut all the time. It's like 3 plus hours.
The Dr. Manhattan creation story is one of the coolest things I've ever seen on film.
There are so many great ideas in that story that come from the original material. I felt like Snyder did a fantastic job portraying the core concepts in the comic.

I think it's a great film and an extremely well done adaptation of the book.

Rorschach was probably the best part of the entire movie,
which pretty much summed up the movie. They didnt get the comic.
Movie was alright though
