Lots of very weird position shifting going on in this thread. Yes, Iverson played more like a SG, but was a PG. Hondo, as much as I love him, played SF more than he did SG.
1. Jordan
2a. Jerry West
2b. Kobe
4. DWade
5. Drexler
6. Ray Allen-- actually may have diminished his standing by playing too long-- should have left after Celtics title.
7. Sam Jones
8 Gervin
9. Moncrief
10. Bill Sharman --arguably the best Celtic in the earliest Russell years, before Bill became Bill Russell.
Honorable mention- David Thompson ruined himself on booger sugar, but was striking; he also played a bit of SF, but more SG. Joe Dumars was good in a small window. Manu, Reggie, etc.

I like Wade, I really do. I've been saying for a couple months that Miami looks like they are going to the ECF next year.
But the thing with Wade is that his defining moments all come with a bit of an asterisk.
That Finals run? Marred by flopping and highly questionable officiating.
The Heatles? By their second title, Wade was a cutter who was in the corner on most possessions.
When Wade was the man, no Shaq or LeBron/Bosh, say 08-09 smack dab in the middle of his career, he couldn't get out of the first round in the East.
Without LeBron James and Chris Bosh going to Miami, replace them with average players-What exactly is his legacy? That one run with Shaq that is highly into question whether are not the refs put the screw job to Cuban and Dallas?
Prime T-Mac never had the cast that Wade had. He was a better playmaker, scorer and a underrated defender. If he counts as a SG (and to be fair he's wing without position) I have him ahead.
Hell, there was debate on whether he was better than Kobe for a time.
Head to head both at their peaks-who do you take? Give me T-Mac every day of the fricking week.

won a title with Miami, so no

I think he is saying that Ray Allen played so many years past his prime as a role player, people forgot he was elite for 8-10 years. Plus, playing out west didn't help him.

lol, yet TMac never made it out of the first round. evvvvvvver
Let's pretend TMac's prime is from his 1st year in ORL, to his 3rd year in HOU. 7 years, that is when he was at his best statiscally.
26pts 6 rebs 5 ast 43fg% 34 3pt% 1.5 stl 0.9 blks PER 25.0 72Win shares
Wade 2004 to end of 2011, 7 years
26pts 5rebs 6 asts 48%fg 29 3pt 1.8 stl 1.1 blk PER 26.6 78 win shares
so you're taking Tmac who can do the same things, just way less efficiently. Go ahead. But that makes zero sense.
this thread didnt go exactly as you had planned when you put Wade low on your list to troll me. lol

that doesnt trump winning a title. That helps his legacy more.

Even going to the celtics blurs people's opinions of Allen, as Paul pierce was by far the best player on that championship team, and allen's contributions were a far cry from being worthy of consideration for top 10 all time SG. For the last 6 to 7 years of his career Ray Allen has been thought of mostly as a 3 point specialist.
Also being a great player on bad teams that nobody saw play didn't help his cause.

by far? c'mon
Pierce, Allen and Garnett were all fairly equal.
Allen and Pierce played the same exact amount of minutes per game.
All 3 took the same exact amount of shots per game, at 13.
Pierce 19.6 ppg
Garnett 18.8 ppg
Allen 17.4 ppg

Without reading anyone's responses yet...Rip Hamilton has to be on the list.

I fully admit to being a novice in the finer points of basketball but is Wade considered a classic "shooting guard". I always thought his game was more like a small forward. He's not really much of a shooter and his ability to score has generally come from his amazing ability to attack the basket due to his strength/athleticism. You would never try to use a screen to set him up for an open jumper. I guess it all comes down to how you define a position. I always thought alot of the specific position designations were used for novice fans like myself.

I can say the same that Jordan and Kobe were in the corner waiting to cut while the primary ballhandlers were running the offense?
I can't say that all.
Miami just brought in another guard to run the team. With his lack of 3 point shooting, Wade is not the weapon that people remember....and remember I've been saying for months that the Heat are going to the ECF.
Prime T-Mac would take Prime Wade one-on-one.
