When I was a kid they wanted to take mine out, but it never happened. Fast forward to early forties and I cracked one while at Disney World. My Dentist looked at it and said it would be no problem to fix but I should just get them removed because the bottom ones were laying down. So I had been chewing on the side of the tooth my whole life with no pain or problems. Went to a specialist and had all four pulled. Went to work the next day with no problems.

I'm 90% sure she was the receptionist. I had not seen her anywhere but the front desk and she hadn't come back to the rooms ever. I always say receptionist when I tell this story, as to emphasize how bad the swelling was and how it was obviously infected.

She was older and seemed like she had been working there a while so I'm sure she knew more than the average person, but yea pretty sure she was just the receptionist.

Part of the frustration for me was I told them it looked abnormal, and they did nothing. And on top of that had I scheduled Tuesday instead of Friday, it could've gotten serious, because apparently infections that close to your brain are a big deal.

I did get laid in the hospital though making it one of the best sex stories I have. Should've said this in the OP.

What are the consequences of not having your wisdom teeth removed?

They can start pushing your other teeth out of alignment. They can start piercing through the skin and cause an infection. Mine had started to do that I finally had to get them removed when I was like 33 or something. My dad is 70 and still has his though.

I had mine removed in my early 20's when I was in the military via a mil dentist. I wasn't put under, I remember most of the procedure. Lots of pulling on my jaw. I was loopy as f*ck though. My wife thought that it would be funny to wheel me by my office that was in the same clinic, to have my quarters paperwork signed and have all of my coworkers laugh at me. I was drooling all over myself while laughing at everything.

No probs with my teeth before or after though.

Still have mine. They aren't impacting (impacted?), but when dentists and hygenists see I still have wisdom teeth in my mouth, they always go batshit crazy. One said I can choose to have them taken out or let them rot out. They might cause me trouble 2-3 times a year (most likely food particles getting caught and irritating gums), but otherwise don't seem to complicate anything else. Definitely not subjecting myself to any unnecessary surgeries.

Why weren't you put on antibiotics when you left the surgery? That is standard procedure.
