The first question is is it even a crime? I'm not sure burning a square of polyester is in violation of any criminal laws.
Of course, if you did it at a gay rally (then again, is there anything left to rally for?) you might be cited for inciting a riot.
My thoughts: burn away. Just don't be shocked when people become pissed off.
