I don't understand his reasons for not signing with the Rockets

First big off the bench in LAC he'll play close to 30 minutes a night. There's no one else there for him to fight for minutes with at those spots. HOU will be giving minutes to both Jones and Capela at the 4/5 so he's looking at prob 6-8 more minutes a night in LA.

He may be behind Motiejunas and Jones in Houston.

Apparently it makes sense to him. Maybe he was pissed that he was told that he would be starting in Houston and that didn't work out.

Why do Rockets' fans hate Jones so much?

HOU was reportedly trying to trade Jones I'm guessing they didn't get much of an offer for him so they had to keep him and that scared Smith off.

He did start when they first traded for him then he approached McHale about coming off the bench when they weren't meshing well with him in the starting lineup.

Clips went from a disaster of an offseason to putting together a pretty nice roster. Still a bit hesitant on how it all fits together.

A lot of volatile personalities

Lance/DJ/Smoove could get ugly if/when they hit a rough patch.

Also since he's coming off the bench, chances are offense will run through him for an extended period of time. He will get his shots since Crawford probably won't be hogging it either and Austin Rivers will die if he takes more than 5-6 a game lol

I knew he started in the beginning, I didn't realize that he was the one who suggested that he should come off the bench, though.

He must just think that he'll get more playing time with the Clippers, and that they are the better team.

CP3 apparently isn't the easiest guy to play with too

I hate that the entire NBA offseason is in one thread, I completely forgot to check it for weeks.

1. Jones isn't good on defense. He can get some blocks because he's athletic, but he's not a good defender.

2. He didn't play well last year. Maybe you can chalk that up to the nerve injury he had and the collapsed lung. He looked good before he got injured... but that was only the first 4 games of the season. But the fact is he didn't look good when he came back from injury.

3. He hasn't really improved and he still completely disappears a lot. Some games he looks pretty good... but other games you forget he's even on the floor.

But defense is his biggest problem. That and consistency. If he could play all the time like he plays some of the time, he could be a really good player. One game he looks like a borderline all-star and the next game he looks like a rookie.

I guess it's something you have to see to understand, because he doesn't look like a bad defender from a statistical standpoint.

Maybe over the course of a season his numbers can look decent.

But he cannot defend the better PF's of the league. He gets lit up when he's out-sized or out-skilled and completely disappears from those games.

Josh Smith on the other hand, is physical and can play tough defense against anybody. He makes every shot tough for whoever he is guarding, and can really turn up the pressure when needed.

Jones is soft on defense inside.

Do you have a list of which stats are to be trusted vs not trusted?
we've been over this one before.

The only relevant ones are the ones that make the Rockets look good.

I just wanted to expose that again, and possibly have him give some stats that he agrees with, so that it would be obvious.

I'm one of the few who can see things both as a fan of my team but also as an observer of the league in general.

you seem to be able to see the league as an impartial observer too at times instead of always through piston colored glasses.
