Just watched it for the first time today and had no idea what I'd been missing. Honestly, I can't think of a more pleasantly surprising and genuinely enjoyable movie I've seen in a while. I don't think it's in my top 10, but still a really good movie. How does the board feel about it?

Yeah, Grand Budapest Hotel is one of my few favorite Wes Anderson movies. I'm not sure I was 'pleasantly surprised'. W. Anderson isn't my favorite director, but he is certainly proven so it was everything I expected.

Do you mean your top 10 movies of all time? If so, geez you must have freaking loved this movie.

Yep, seen this about 6 times, enjoy it every time. Wes Anderson is a good man. And Ralph Fiennes pleasantly surprises. Funny knowing he was Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter.

It kind of loses its way in the third act, but I absolutely love it. It's become my favorite Wes Anderson film.

If you like that type of movie and humor, it's quite awesome. Some people just can't get it.

I thought it was great. I still like Moonrise Kingdom more though.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, maybe my favorite of 2014.

Moonrise Kingdom was very good as well. For some reason Life Aquatic didn't really work for me, nor did Djarling.

The best Wes Anderson IMO is Rushmore, but I'd put Grand Budapest very close behind. And then probably Bottle Rocket and Moonrise Kingdom in a tie for #3.

My favorite movie. Wes Anderson's best so far imo.

1. GBH
2. Bottle Rocket
3. Rushmore
4. Moonrise
5. Fantastic Mr Fox
6. Darjeeling

7. Royal Tenenbaums
8. Life Acquatic

Idk why but i could not get into 7 or 8 at all

I felt the exact same way when I saw it the first time. It's just as enjoyable (if not more so as you pick u more) on re-watch.

I think I need to watch it again. I watched moonrise kingdom and grand Budapest back to back and enjoyed the former much more.

Royal Tennnenbaums is still WA's masterpiece IMO.

I'll always love Tennenbaums the best, mainly due to Hackman. In Anderson movies - where characters scarcely open their mouths to laugh, Royal's coarse antagonism dropped in like a nerd grenade.

My favorite art direction & Mothersbaugh was Life Aquatic. This might be my next avi & I'm thinking of buying a pair of those killer Adidas I found online.

Budapest was his widest & most refined work to me. Layers of great performances, unreal cinematography and a great script. Not that I didn't respect Birdman's achievement, I just thought Anderson had the best overall picture from the last Oscar crop.

Anderson's best, and that's saying a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed it, the movie had both style and content.

Peak Wes Anderson. I don't think he'll ever beat GBH. It's all downhill from here folks
