watching Yunel hit this year is the damnedest thing. It's almost purely ground ball singles, so you lean towards BABIP/luck, but then I watch replays and he's very clearly aiming exactly where the ball goes.

BABIP is .372 this year, well above his .304 career mark.

Under 30 Goldy, Harper, Stanton and Trout make an outstanding group.
Go ahead and throw Rizzo in there, too

No mention of Encarnacion yet, but the answer is Miggy. Donaldson will be the second best hitter in his 30's in six months from now.

Batters can not aim for the hole while reacting to pitches of different velocities, breaks, locations, and movement; they can just try to hit balls hard enough that they are more likely to escape the range of the fielders. So whether a ground ball hit with a given force, or a fly ball hit with a certain trajectory, is an "at 'em ball" or a "tweener" is often nothing more than chance.
His ground ball % is barely above his career average. BABIP is high, but his peripherals don't suggest any immediate, downward spiral. In short, he'll experience some regression but he's having a banner (in terms of his career averages) year at the plate. His .OPS is nothing to write home about. His ISO is low and short of his career mark.
Top hitters so far this year over 30...
Miggy and Cruz for sure. Adrian Gonzalez is having a another solid year. Votto, Peralta both are swinging the bat well so far

If the Angels played the Astros every game, Pujols's OPS would be 1.500

Miggy is 1. I'd go Bautista and Votto next.
Assuming we are just talking about pure hitting. When you consider defense and position, guys like Tulo and Martin would probably move up.

Why? Because he's hitting .226/.273/.516/.789 against them this year, so that translates to 1.5? Oh, it must be because be hit 2 HR last night against them during his best month in 5 years.

Fielder certainly has to be in the discussion

Relax, insecure Stros fan. 'Twas a joke.
Pujols has some big hits against Houston over the years, that's all.
