Focus now shifts to football season. 2015 looks similar to 2011

#1 It fits into the NC year cycle (2003,2007,2011,2015?)
#2 The preseason arrests of players including the starting QB, just like JJ in 2011.
#3 The young and talented roster as a whole looks strikingly familiar to that of the 2011 roster.

Difference is, we have a new DC. People seem to be over looking that. We are going to a new scheme. How players pick that up will be a major issue. We don't play 3 cupcakes in a row. We play one, then off to Miss St. on the road.
We have the talent, no question about it....but the jury is still out of what our def will be like.
Besides that, it does remind me a lot of 2011.

Could happen if AJ is the permanent backup QB.

We need to stop comparing future teams to the 2011 one. All of the NC teams we've had were unique in their own way. This team doesn't have to be similar to any of them to make their own mark on history.

Don't forget the Perrilloux arrest/suspension in 2007.

We have no depth at middle linebacker...

No Chavis. That will hold you back.

This season is a complete question mark for me. We could surprise and have a terrific run or we could go 8-5.
With coaching changes and QB situation, it's a guessing game.

I dont't see it yet. We had a much better season the year preceding 2011. In 2010, we went 11-2 and crushed A&M in the Cotton Bowl with a team made up almost entirely of freshman and sophomores. It was quite evident to me that 2011 was going to be very special. 2014 did not give me the same vibe. I'm not going to get too excited about 2015 just yet.

based on what??

Ummmm... Except that whole two SR QBs thing, right? And a dominating bowl win to finish the season? And being 11-2 at the end of the year, right?

I like the optimism, but IMO this season looks more similar to 2009 than 2011
2009 - coming off an 8-5 season that included some UGLY losses (UF, UGA, Ole Miss) and a close home loss to Bama
2015 - coming off an 8-5 season that included some UGLY losses (MSU, AU) and a close home loss to Bama
2009 - New DC formerly of another SEC school
2015 - New DC formerly of another SEC school
2009 - Soph as starting QB after making 1 start the previous year (Jefferson)
2015 - (likely with AJ arrest) Soph as starting QB after making 1 start the previous year
2009 - coming off a season where LSU finished unranked
2015 - coming off a season where LSU finished unranked
2009 - 3rd year on staff for the OC (2 previous years featured one really good offense and one not so great offense)
2015 - 3rd year on staff for the OC (2 previous years featured one really good offense and one not so great offense)
2009 - long road trip to a struggling BCS program (Washington)
2015 - long road trip to a struggling BCS program (Syracuse)
Besides all of that, in 2011 a 5th year Sr. with significant playing experience was waiting to step in after the arrest of the projected starting QB. This year were looking at a true Soph with minimal playing experience stepping in for what will likely be a suspended starter. There certainly is some young talent on the 2015 roster, but the young talent in 2010 was part of a very good 10-2 team that had only road losses to the eventual national champs and a good Ark. team that went 10-2 the next season. Many people saw the potential of the 2011 team coming. LSU started the season at #4. The 2015 team has a lot of questions that still need to be answered and like in 2009, LSU will start the season ranked somewhere in the mid-teens.

I am looking forward to Donte Jackson turning heads these next three year

Who is the Tyrann Mathieu on this team?

I will be surprised if this team does better than 9-3 for the season. There is nothing at QB and the defense will be a mystery. Running right for a yard or two, running left or up the middle for another yard or two, and then throwing a pass won't get it. LF can't do it all by himself.

Like 2011? Maybe while one QB fights a legal battle, the other will lead us to the most perfect season of my lifetime again. Then one game Les (who I support on everything but this) will ruin it by putting the other guy in during middle of a game we're winning.
When the crowd boos the coach for jinxing the perfection, everyone will come on TD on a high horse and say "F u to everyone who boo'd the player". Which was 0%, but whatever.
Maybe in my next life I'll get over 2011.

I LIKE this year's team. Talent is there. Coaches need to fine tune it, prepare it for game day, and turn it loose with the ability to make game day adjustments.
OFF
-We return three VERY good OL starters and have quality guys stepping up/in
-ALL WR's are back, more exp running routes and grasping O
-TE's return, and should only be more productive
-Stable of RB's led by LF should be explosive and physical
-QB? Sad that this seems to be a pervasive theme, but I'm hopeful Harris shows us more of what he did vs MSU last season and manages the O btwn laser passes and his feet making plays.
DEF
-DT's will be better, heck they improved as last season progressed. CLC and Godchaux are going to be a solid tandem up front.
-DE's are unproven, but last year our DE's were solid vs the run, but non-existant as pass rushers.
-Beckwith is back at MLB, enough said. Bigger, faster, better grasp of D. D Jones, L Louis and company are going to be fast and physical
-Secondary - should be one of the best in the country, period. Play-makers at CB and S, and good depth.
Early schedule is obviously much more challenging than years past. We need to come ready to play week 1 and see what we have and adjust according for MSU. Overall when it comes to personnel, what's not to like?
