Get ready, "Put a Tiger 6 on it!".

I like the hire a lot!

I'd like to see him take over Pre-game, Half-Time and Post-Game LSU Network duties from the absolute "Worst of the Worst" sports radio voice I've ever heard at any level. (Kevin Ford) Ford needs to completely removed from all LSU sports broadcasts

Agreed...Ford sounds like he is in a hurry and does not give a damn.

So we hired someone who knows nothing about the history of LSU.

1. That's what the color guy is there for...

2. I think people keep forgetting that this job is more than just sitting up in the booth on gamedays. Hawthorne ran LSU's Radio Network as well. Blair has a background in this too.

I kid...he seems fine from the little sample I have heard.

Love the downvotes with no answers to my questions

Well I'll try.

I just want to be able to hear that slight hint of fandom in the announcers voice. It shows me he cares about this place

You really think the dude is going to come in, completely immerse himself in LSU athletics, and not develop an attachment and probably even a love for the Tigers??? Have you not heard numerous accounts of people attending their first game in Tiger Stadium and falling in love right away?? I know I have.

and it's not just a stepping stone or a paycheck.

When it comes to collegiate sports, this is in no way shape or form a "stepping stone" job. It is absolutely one of the premier ones!! Now if he were to be approached by say ESPN about Monday Night Football on the radio, or one of the legendary pro franchises who throws a bunch of money at him, who knows? But I'm sure he'll be here for a while at least.

I am going to be that guy. No ties here and have no clue who he is... No ties to La... how can he gain the ears of such a family driven state when he had no ties here?... Someone with some sort of tie to here whatsoever... Now I have to grow to love some rando who is contracted out to be the voice of the tigers for the rest of my adult life and my future kids childhood?

You are WAY overanalyzing this. The guy is a pro and like I said already, I think he'll fall in love with LSU in no time.

Gene Deckerhoff is pretty legendary as the voice of FSU athletics. He started doing basketball in 1974 and football in 1979. He is revered by the FSU fan base. They love the guy. HE'S A UF GRAD!!!!

How did he butcher the Morris walkoff homer? I thought he was great on that call.

Don't worry, with our offense you won't be hearing it much

I agree on Ford .. I'm pretty sure he was a "Hawthorne guy" .. Time to give the entire network broadcast a professional upgrade .. and Hannagrif ain't the answer ..

I don't get the homerism when it comes to hiring The Voice. Thank God people don't have the same trait when we are hiring a coach.

This Blair guy will be a lifer. Mark it down.
