Installing stadium chair on kayak

I picked up a portable stadium chair from Costco last saturday for $20 to see if I could install it on my Emotion Stealth Angler sit on top 10ft. Buying a better kayak isn't an option right now so I wanted a cheap solution to a more comfortable seat that could give me better support and be higher off the water. The original seat was decent but was just sitting on the hull with a back that didn't give great support. I'm 6'2 190lb but have some back issues from the army so long trips could put a hurting on me.
Supplies needed were around $10 and included rubber furniture caps, titanium metal drill bits, screws, 4" bolt, and 1" dowel rod. Total install time was about 2 hours which was mainly drilling through the 1/2" steel of the chair frame. I was able to secure the rear with a 4" bolt into the bolt hole for the original seat and the front is held down by straps that can be easily removed. I haven't got a chance to take it on the water so I will update after the weekend if anyone is interested. I sat in it in the backyard and it was much more comfortable with better support for my back. I was also about 9" higher which is a big difference in a kayak. pics are below.

Yea I was thinking it would be a little more unstable. I've got good balance so I'm not too worried but I will be moving pretty slow the first couple of trips.

And you at least have one ACU accessory LOL.

I looked at all kinds of seats for my Emotion and I could not figure out a way to get them to fit. I did not consider how yours is. I may look into it again.

The first time I took my Pro Angler out I had the seat in the "lifted" position. It got a little hairy in some of those first turns. I got used to it quickly and could cruise around worry free, but it's definitely something to keep in mind at first.

The stadium chair at Costco is freakishly well suited for dropping it in. It has this no slip thick rubber on the bottom that you could just have it free sitting on top if you wanted to be lazy and not have the lift.

Report back after you give it a shot. I need to do something with my Redfish 12 seat.

Looks good. You may want to put a little paint over the exposed screws/bolts on the seat for some corrosion protection.

Thanks, I didn't think about that.

I might try that in mine. Are you going to test it this weekend? Let us know how it worked.

I'll report back Sunday evening on stability, maneuverability, and fishability.
