So this is basically Castaway on Mars, right?

My understanding is that it's Castaway on mars, like you said, but with some technological and mechanical ingenuity thrown in. I don't know much about it (which I like), but I've seen people say that the story gets into how he survives, including ingenious shite he builds/makes to help himself out.
Or something like that.

Already saw Robinson Crusoe on Mars.
No need for this remake.

The other thing people that read the book talked about was Matt Damon's character's personality. I started reading the book the other night, and just through the first few chapters it was evident that his character was pretty funny. I wonder if that will carry over to the screen.
The book does seem interesting so far, and doesn't seem too long (I'm reading on my kindle, so not sure how many pages it is, but I seem to be moving pretty quickly)

It's a good book, probably the best I've read this year. I've read about 10 so far.

You get a downvote for using the word "rad".

That should be upvote-worthy.
Who doesn't like "rad"? How old are you..?

Old enough to not use the word "rad".

So it's like Castaway on Mars with The Professor rather than Tom Hanks?

Saw it was $6 on Kindle and just got it. I'll start it tonight. I was looking for a new SciFi book, I've read too much nonfiction lately.

I am really looking forward to seeing the movie.
I listened to the audiobook on YouTube and enjoyed the heck out of it.
I loved the way he McGyvered the crap out of everything to survive. If something could go wrong it would and he was constantly trying to stay just one step ahead of the Grim Reaper while never loosing his sense of humor.
If anyone is interested in listening to the book you can search for it on YouTube. I listened here- LINK
