Fit Chef is what he's going with. Hard to do that with a grilled cheese truck.

Whats Eddie's POV? Is it cheat day? Caribbean? Soul? Food truck? Healthy? No one knows and I am really surprised the judges havent jumped him for it.

Jay is by far the most tv ready and clearly the front runner. The only thing he cooked that they didnt like was the gumbo. He was kind of pigeon holed into doing it with the okra, but what else was he supposed to do? He hasnt had a bad presentation yet, and to me thats the most important thing.

Alex- FN already has a sandwich guy and his tv personality puts Alex's to shame. Plus he cant relate his food to anything.

Dom- FN doesnt need another New Englander who thinks they know Italian food.

Arnold- I just dont see where his POV of "home entertaining" is needed. There are plenty of daytime shows on FN which take care of this niche. But he is gay so I will give him the underdog nod and it wouldnt surprise me if they pushed him forward.

He'll be on Bravo before too long.

The only gripe they've had all season about his presentation was repeating himself on episode 2 and not sounding "genuine." To me, it was overblown because the FN judges heard it over and over, but the guest judges had no idea. He's had a few hiccups cooking but nothing drastic outside of the gumbo, and even that had good flavors.

To me cooking isn't even the most important part. It's delivery, which Jay has nailed.

It's not like if he got his own show, he'd be forced to present a nasty looking gumbo.

Meh, he had a good plan and stuck to it. It was overblown. It isnt like he walked off stage, didnt talk for 15-20 seconds, made a horrible sexist joke, had no story with his food, or a few other things certain contestants have done.

Exactly. This cracked me up from the uproxx article

LINK

This week, Jay cooked an andouille hash breakfast taco in the opening challenge (“Another win for Jay,”) and a Cajun-spiced burger for the food truck challenge (he and Arnold were “The Asian-Cajun Burger Boys”). I don’t know how anyone beats Jay at this point. A lovable fat guy cooking food Middle America already loves (with the tiniest spicy twist) is just a winning schtick. Even Bob and Susie would approve, once they got the focus group numbers back. At this point, Jay can just cook some more hot dogs and mac and cheese and beanie weenies, maybe throw in an anecdote about his meemaw, and coast to an easy victory. When it comes down to it, this really isn’t that complicated.

Then Giada asks the gang about their favorite brunch, starting with Staten Island Dom. Who, true to form, answers, “Ayo, I like dis friggin brunch on Mulbry street where dey put da friggin egg onna friggin smashed meatbawl. Ain’t no food dat don’t taste bettah onna meatbawl, you axe me.”

I really cant stand him.

quote:

Oh sure, people call their food “sexy” and “sensual” all day, but God forbid there be any butt and wiener puns. Bottom line, I don’t think this is going to happen for Arnold. Which is a bummer, because I’d be happy to watch him on a less uptight channel (preferably one with no Alton Brown promos).

For the same reason this gay lover is being pessimistic about Arnold's chances, I think it works in his favor actually. Would not surprise one bit if FN wanted to capitalize on this opportunity and move into that market.

quote:

Later, Eddie got dinged for his BBQ pork grilled cheeses for using a too-sweet store-bought BBQ sauce.

I thought it was ridiculous for him to use a store bought sauce.

quote:

Asked to name his favorite brunch this week, Alex went with “chipped beef on toast.”

Blew my mind. He basically picked a frozen pre-prepped meal for his favorite brunch.

quote:

Even after all of that, it looked like Alex was going to go home until Michelle took herself out of the competition. When Michelle first brought up missing her kids, Giada went to “This job’s not for everyone” pep talk #408, but of course as soon as Michelle actually quit everyone went straight to “I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE QUITTING WHY ARE YOU QUITTING YOURSELF QUITTER!”

What a bitch move to quit. She took up a spot which another contestant could have shined and got their dream job.

This is what kills the show for me. It is some form of Iron Chef meets Chopped with the competitions.

I can't figure out how throwing wrenches in the plan show you deserve a spot on the network.

Hell, throw Flay out there and get him to cook a jambalaya across from Jay. Will that mean Flay is a crap chef when he screws it up again?

The cooking can be worked out. He's not going to be deciding his menus without approval from the network. They'll be testing dishes, I'm sure. I agree that delivery is key and he's holding the key to that. He's so likeable and genuine. I think that's why Jeff Mauro is successful.

Jay's gumbo was a poor decision on his part, but it was very early in the game and has long since been forgotten by most folks. I think we all knew it wouldn't work as soon as he said that's what he was going to make in 45 minutes. He'd have been better off using a jarred roux and even that probably wasn't going to allow for a good outcome. Not enough time.

I also agree that FN isn't going to be putting another sandwich show on and it was silly of Alex to think he could win with a sandwich show. Makes you wonder why they've kept him for so long.

At this point, Jay seems like a shoo-in to make the final 3, and he should hold the biggest advantage there due to his huge social media presence. That will help swing the voting his way. Hope I'm right, anyway.

HC has said they filmed 3 different endings, makes me wonder if FN decision is made or if they are seeing fan reaction until making their final decision.

Basically Jay and the final 3 are on a 3-4 month interview post competition.

Ive never watched the show before this season, does it come down to a fan vote or does fn just choose from the final 3?

I think it's audience vote on the FN website.

He didn't say it, the team leader told him he was making the gumbo. They needed a soup of some sort, even Jay admitted it wasn't his best work due to time.

True. I forgot about that. Didn't he say he could have spoken up about it? It really doesn't matter at this point, though.

Yeah he did when they did the cut to where he is giving his opinion on it. I know the fans and probably judges watched it as well so he may get slack for that since it wasn't his idea and admitted he needed more time.
