I think I'm in the majority in considering AD to be the 3rd best player in the world so I easily say AD.

I'm not trying to downplay Griffin's abilities at all, but the Brow is so young and may very well be the best player in the world by the time he turns 25. I do recognize that Blake has made several improvements to his game and respect his work ethic.

Having said that, I think the only time I'd ever take Blake over AD is in a dunk contest.

A friend of mine (posts here, ATL fan) disagrees.

Thanks, these three answers alone should do it.

Anthony Davis is in the top tier of NBA players. Blake Griffin is great, but not at that level.

That and Blake's ball handling / passing ability is pretty unique for a PF and are superior to AD.

But yea, AD is already on par with him as a scorer and is miles ahead of him defensively. Plus the obvious age factor, I would be surprised if AD wasn't the consensus best player in the word by the time he's 25, and that's 2-3 years before guys normally hit their prime.

Pretty much every talking head was saying the Blake had outplayed everyone in the playoffs this season but now that they're out you won't here much of that anymore. Iirc Davis was also in the playoffs this year. Just a lil FYI.

Davis. Griffin, to his credit, has matured a lot in multiple areas. He's just not AD.

So you got Blake > AD?

Don't sit the fence.

I don't think Griffin is a franchise player. On the other hand I believe Davis is. He is the type of player you build around. I think Griffin is the type of player you get to build around a player like AD. But the separation is not as wide as most people would speculate. Griffin is constantly putting up double doubles, I don't know about triple doubles though.

Davis is better, but Blake's passing and dribbling is a huge plus. He's going to get the ball. Davis has to be fed more traditionally.

If I'm only taking them for one season I take Blake, if it's multiple seasons I take Davis.

Griffin is easily a franchise player. When Paul was hurt last year they went 12-6 on the back of Griffin. Their offensive efficiency improved too. HOU really didn't have an answer for him until Paul got back and then LAC didn't go to him as much.

Blake Griffin is my favorite player in the NBA and IMO he's more important to the Clippers than Chris Paul, but AD is probably the 2nd best player in the league behind Lebron James. And fwiw, the Clippers announcer Ralph Lawler thinks AD might be the best player in the league, even ahead of Lebron. There are only a handful of players I'd trade Blake Griffin for, but AD is one of them.

I'm going to say the great expectations for Anthony Davis in the near future has reached a point where I think he is a little overrated currently.
