I do see the similarities to red dead, with the question marks and map setup. I loved red dead, and am loving this game so far. Just finished the quest with the witch, it was great.

Now I'm not bashing the game because that's still a lot of content, but it's very videogame-ish and not very organic.
Not sure how visiting a procedurally generated dungeon for a procedurally generated quest for the millionth time to fetch a random item for an NPC who has 1 of 5 voices is any more organic.

Without the thousands of mods on PC, I never would've thought of doing a second Skyrim playthrough.
Dumb question but what have the mods added besides visuals? I was under the impression the mods just made it look prettier.
Assuming that there are some actual content mods, what are your favorites?

Thank God the next patch isn't going to let you interact with candles near chests or loot.

Nice!
That is the worst.

It's so annoying.

I like it for lighting up torches and what not in caves. The candles are a pain in the arse though.

Not just with looting, half the time there's a candle right in front of a tavern merchant. It's like the game just wants to screw with you with all those candles/torches.
I, for one, would love to see a house DLC or even a place in Kaer Moren to store our nonessential goods. I don't like to sell all those notes and books, crafting mats, relic gear and other sets of witcher gear, etc. I'd love to have somewhere to put it all instead. My inventory rests at 90-100lbs with the 100lb saddle bags.

Yep, I hate the clutter. If I have to carry around a set of armor in order to upgrade it later, then I don't want to keep it in my inventory.

it was posted earlier that you can apparently leave your loot somewhere in game and it won't disappear. perhaps try it with one item before trying it with more.

I haven't been able to play this game in 10 days. I miss it.

Redditor said that it worked for littl bit then randomly disappeared

As much as I would like this too, I've seen people, especially on the Reddit page, saying this would be a terrible move because it goes against everything that Witcher stands for and how they act.
Regardless, I just throw all my unnecessary crap by the fast travel sign at Crow's Perch. None of it's disappeared yet.

And the voices are so distinct that they're immediately recognizable. Like I don't notice the bandit chief has the same voice as the guy who sent me to kill said chief.

For me, the visuals are my favorite and were enough to get me to do another playthrough. Thousands of mods that change the skies to the grass and every minute detail in between, not to mention the overhauls to the inventory menus, map, weather, weapons, spells, character creation, and the entire game's soundtrack. My last modded run-through of Skyrim with 4K textures looked better than most AAA titles of even the last year or so.
You can even make the NPC population denser, and make their textures look better. You can make the women easier on the eyes, too, from lore-friendly to downright lewd. There's a mod that adds NPCs/followers with new voice actors who send you on new quests. I think there's a mod that makes bard instruments playable. Some mods add some realism challenges like cold, disease, thirst, and hunger. I know there's at least one or two mods to the combat mechanics.
On top of all that, there are actual content mods that add new land and gameplay. One of the well known expansions is Falskaar, which adds 25+ hours of gameplay via new land, lore, and characters with new voice acting. Moonpath to Elsweyr is another one with new land and gameplay, and Wyrmstooth, Helgen Reborn, and several others. Falskaar is the most well-known, most favored, and I believe the most expansive. A lot of the mods developed to improve textures and terrain have a Falskaar add-on.
Of course, there are also mods that make the crabs curse at you or turn dragons into flying trains, and an entire community of modders who've turned Skyrim into a sex RPG. Those mods get a lot of attention, but they're just a drop in the bucket of what's really out there.

Just failed my first two quests last night for going too far in the main story
The Triss story was very well done though. Lots of fun. Still can't figure out what I have left to do to figure out if Ciri was in Novigrad. I mean, I know she was, but that part of the main mission won't get checked off.

So, how long is this game?
I just started. I'm working my way through White Orchad and opened and already met with the Emperor.
Trying to finish up all the question marks in White Orchad before moving on.

Pretty long. I've been doing a tone of side quests. I have absolutely no bearing on how far I am in the main story. Could be 50%, could be 10%
White Orchard is meh. Velen is fun, but swamps get old. Riding through the northern hills of Novigrad is just gorgeous.

Is the Skellige main quest and key secondary line as long as novigrad. That story just kept going and going and going.
