I don't like to,marinate....prefer a paste rub, then fresh lime squeezed over it after slicing. Make a paste of garlic, salt, smoked paprika or ground chipotle or ancho chili, a tiny bit of cumin, and just enough oil to make it stick. Rub on flank, grill hot n fast. Rest for a,bit, slice and spritz with lime.

I wouldnt grill
I do in cast iron
Just some oil and mixture of chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt and pepper. Cooked up with onions and bell peppers.

Thanks for the help.
I wanted to grill since I'll be cooking my lunch for the week.

That's not really in my arsenal but I will give it a shot.

There's nothing wrong with grilling it.
Make a marinade with lime juice, a shot of tequila, garlic, cilantro, oil, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, pepper flakes, cumin and coriander. Let it sit for at least an hour and then cook it up.

Ree Drummond has a great recipe. I leave out the lime. Never any leftovers.

If you marinate the meat, dry it with some paper towels before grilling. Remove the excess moisture so you get a nice char on the outside. Hot n' fast for flank steak. Wrap it in foil and let rest before slicing.

RE Fajita marinade. There are tons of them. Rubs, too. Were I to do one, then I´d use lime, garlic salt, cilantro, cúmin, black pepper, chili pepper.
RE Grill. The possibility of overcooking is very patent. Cast iron skillet (with yellow bell peppers and onions).

Go to Mesican grocery store with a restaurant attached, and buy the steak already marinaded and seasoned. For the grill or iron the trick is super hot and fast.
