I am trying to schedule a long weekend with my wife before the baby is born (A couple months from now). I need help thinking of some options. Will like to drive to destination. So far all I've come up with is going to Natchez and staying in a bed and breakfast and taking tours of the antebellum homes there. A friend of mine did this once and they said it was a great weekend getaway together. Any advice on that or other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

Orange Beach is always a great drive-to destination.

Might be a bit more relaxing than touring homes and such. But, if that's her thing - then do whatever she wants!

we did this for a weekend getaway. Stayed in a B&B viewed four plantation tours, took a carriage ride (very enjoyable and informative), tried local restaraunts. (had best meals at Cotton Alley Cafe and Magnolia Grill, Delta Tamales at Fat Mamas too.) The city has a lot of great antique stores with really good prices. If you have never been and just want peace and quiet and a little History it's a great place.

Natchez is probably your best bet for that sort of trip due to the restaurants and shops in the area in addition to the antebellum homes.

I love staying in a cottage at Butler-Greenwood in St. Francisville. Very relaxing and the cottages are neat. There are some shops there, but not a lot, and other plantations to tour. The restaurant scene is lacking, but it's neat to eat at The Bluffs. Pretty views.

The cottages at Oak Alley are neat and quaint and restaurant there is okay, but again, there aren't many other restaurant options there if that's important to your trip. The plantations in the area are neat, though.

Nottoway is a nice getaway as well.

Natchitoches can be a fun weekend trip.

Y'all should take one of those vacations where you learn to cook gourmet meals. Once she has the baby she will have a lot of time off and should be able to have a kick arse dinner on the table when you get home. Just a thought.

My wife and I spent the weekend at Nottoway in the Honeymoon Suite. The best part of it is you have your own private swimming pool.

My wife and I went to Memphis in the early part of March for our babymoon and I'd highly recommend it. We stayed at the Peabody. Beautiful hotel and rooms, get to watch the Ducks, and is a great place to relax. Great food (Gus's Fried Chicken, Cental BBQ, etc) nearby the hotel. Plus there is a minor league baseball park right next door if you feel like being outside. We'd never been to Memphis and both really enjoyed it.

The Alluvian in Greenwood, MS is a good place. Not much in Greenwood, but the Alluvian is a nice hotel with a spa and is associated with the Viking Cooking which offers private cooking classes. There are also a couple of other good restaurants in the area.

Is she wanting this? I understand different strokes for different folks, but going away on a "babymoon" or whatever the hell that is would have been the last thing I wanted to do while pregnant.

Wait until baby is 6+ months old, get a babysitter, then take her out to get drunk and have crazy hotel sex.

So do you take the "babymoon" before or after your co-ed baby shower?

There's no reason to take a vacation with a big fat pregnant chick. Send your wife to the spa for the weekend and get a room at the holiday inn with you girlfriend
