If $10000 was guaranteed for a legit podcast with the caveat being you it has to be on movies/tv/entertainment and it has to start tomorrow...what could you talk about for one hour about right now? And then what can sustain your podcast for more episodes to come?

I guess this scenario really gets to the fundamentals of what you really think is fascinating in tv/film. So what do you geek out on...and how could you translate that into a podcast?

Nothing. But that's what I'd talk about.

Why film is dying, and how TV helped kill it. And how this isn't really a bad thing.

I'd do a podcast on bad geology in film...but that's not really my passion. I could sustain it, for sure, but my heart wouldn't be there.

But pop in the Core tonight and I can give you a thesis on what is wrong by morning.

I think my passion is story. And if it's a good story, then it's a good movie. I don't have any idea how to make that a sustainable podcast. I'd have to find a model/element to make that work.

Frasier or Top Gear. They're probably the two shows I've watched the most.

I'd participate. We've probably met each other anyway.

movies/tv/entertainment

I would probably do something similar to the guys over at Screen Junkies. Discuss Action, Comic, Fantasy, Anime....etc, that general type of genre. I can discuss other subjects and aspects of film, entertainment, and television. That would be the easiest for me to just jump in to on short notice. Could probably start in 5 minutes from now if it was a stipulation . 5 minutes so I had time to write out a quick overview of conversation flow and topic direction, with a few bullet points of stuff I want to hit.

Moving forward. While what I mentioned above would be my meat and potatoes. I would be all over the place. If you are including entertainment I would probably even have several different conversations on music in movies. You can also discuss sports up to a point through that door.

I'd destroy the current trend of remakes, reboots, pointless sequels and superhero dreck and we (my panel) would come up with new ideas. Then flesh them out. Make them irreverent. Lampoon everything.

I would actually discuss the movie going experience first before even getting into film itself. Audience, prices, theaters and so on.

OK. I thought about this more.

What if the point of the podcast was to explain cerebral films to a young kid. (e.g. Primer, Dark City)

Or artsy films to a blind person. (e.g. The Fall, Pan's Labyrinth, Tree of Life)

It shows appreciation of the film itself in conveying what is going on, and it gives an interesting perspective that listeners may or may not remember/agree/feel.

I would probably focus on the history of scripted television programming and trace the evolution of the 2 mainstays - hour long drama/action and half-hour sitcoms.

I could do an hour or 2 per week, almost indefinitely, picking particular eras, focusing on individual shows - particularly the extremely popular and/or highly influential shows of each era - how it was different, if it changed the business or production side, the effect of the show on the stars' careers, etc.

So - you got the money? I can get started as soon as the check clears, Pec.

With the day you bring up being May the fourth I'd probably go star wars, bring up rumors, expected plot lines, as well as bring up the direction of the films and how Disney can re-invent a series that almost lost its gusto.
