At the plate, everyone rips the ball
They are hell on wheels on the basepaths
The defense outside of 3rd base is top flight
thoughts?

Jesus Christ, its an informal superlative of the word fun.
Can we talk baseball?

The 2009 national championship team was fun to watch. They had Coleman with his semi side arm throwing motion, jared mitchell on the bases, they hit the ball well, and had the dread locks of doom come in for certain situations.

No, but not because of the players. It's the bat's fault. Imagine if this team was playing with even the '09 bats

The '97 and '08 teams were fun to watch as well.
The thing that makes this team great is their ability to come from behind.

Not even close. The '08 and '09 teams were much better because of the offensive productivity. Those 2 teams saw the likes of Matt Clark, Blake Dean, Jared Mitchell, Leon Landry, DJ Lemahieu, Ryan Schimpf, Sean Ochinko, Micah Gibbs, Mikie Mahtook at the plate. Lots of long balls. Long balls = more fun to watch. Ranaudo, Verdugo, Byrd, Coleman, Ott, Alsup etc. on the bump. Came from obscurity to break the SEC win streak record and send the box out in style with a trip to Omaha. That momentum led to a title in '09. Hadn't truly felt like a top national program since Tulane sent us home in the '01 Supers. Laid the groundwork for what we are seeing today.

yea i was sort of looking at it in context to them not having '09s bats

Chinea is probably the worst defensive first baseman we've had in a long while and he's much worse than Hale is at 3rd.

Foster at 2nd is worse than Hale at third. Yeah he'll make a great play, but he'll boot an easy one far too often.

Chinea, like a lot of long-time Catchers, struggles to play anywhere else. Foster makes his share of errors at 2nd, but they are somewhat overlooked due to his penchant for turning plays with his extreme athleticism. Hale has outperformed both of those guys and in fact looks like he's played 3rd for a long time.

Correct. The right side of the infield is a pretty big liability. Much moreso than Hale even though i swear Hale sat and watched several ground balls go into left field this weekend that were within his reach.

infield defensive issues with Foster, Chinea and Hale, and the lack of arm strength in the outfield make me pretty nervous about our chances for a post-season run, so its a good thing we have the offense that we have

Yep. At times they seem very shaky and defense pretty much lost the third game against A&M.

Hell no. 08 and 09 were 100 times better. So was mason Katz last year. That team was more fun. Might have been bregman freshmen season

the Matt Clark, Blake Dean, and Ryan Schimpf combo was the most fun offense to watch since the early 2000s
