Good coaches take the fall for their players. Bad coaches blame the players and lose their loyalty. Then the bad coaches get fired

Quincy Pondexter said he wanted to foul Steph Curry end of 4Q but couldn't get to him before shooting motion, which would've been 3 FTs

Has anyone explained why they didn't foul the rebounder yet?

AD just said Monty told them to foul
Simply put, they were poorly coached in that situation. So now, it's never a coaches fault, but the players not executing.
When you have a team full of what seems to be low basketball IQ players, then there is a coaching issue.
In the end, getting the game to that point was an even worse job of coaching than anything that happened on the last possession. They'll try to act like he made the right coaching call, "telling them to foul", but it doesn't make up for the last 6 minutes of regulation or OT. The coaching was so embarrassing in that stretch, I don't know how anyone can defend Monty.

On the FSNO broadcast I heard him say the word foul at least two times during the timeout before the play. I guess it wasn't the primary play.

We do that, and the game is over. We win barring some miracle. Point is that there should have been no overtime. You don't let Steph Curry get 2 shots in row and avoid being punished for it. Rebounding was absolutely non-existent.

Anthony Davis on foul not happening late:"We made it very clear, we were supposed to foul. Things happen...That 1 play didn't decide game."

The game is on Monty. I don't give a frick what he says. The same coaching issues have held the Pelicans back all season. I predict they will continue to hold them back.

on the second shot, there was literally no time.
Should have fouled on the rebound.

Something has to be done about this. I can not take another year of Montys incompetence losing games for us.

I might consider taking a year off from watching this team if he is back.

There's a serious issue if a coach can't get his own players to follow through on his instructions. The issue isn't if Monty indeed called for the foul, the issue is with the players not following through. This isn't the first time this has occurred. Monty is just too soft spoken which leads to him not being able to get the attention of his players. He's a player's coach which makes him soft. The team has become a complete reflection of that.
