It has been proven sac bunting gives your team a worse chance of scoring
So will you Lsu baseball thread legends admit you are wrong and actually the moron, or will you "rabble rabble baseball situation always bunt rabble rabble"

Last season, according to Baseball Prospectus data, in the two most common situations for a sac bunt, your expectation for scoring a run was actually greater if you let the hitter swing away rather than give up an out via a bunt. With a runner at first and no outs, you had a 24.4 percent better chance of scoring a run than you did with a runner at second and one out. With runners at first and second and no outs, you had a 10.4 percent better chance of scoring a run than you did with runners at second and third and one out.

That's a situation where you bunt and I probably would have kept the bunt on. That said, I don't hate going against the grain and rolling the dice there. Sometimes it bites you in the arse.

He played the percentages. Sac bunting is actually the dumbass thing to do

Just figured people calling someone a dumbass moron should actually know what they are talking about

This from the same guy who calls Russell Wilson elite

You realize that your numbers are total runs and not single run? Bunting is for a single run... hitting away is usually for a multiple run inning. You also have to take into account who's hitting. We had our 6,7,8 guys up. You bunt there and let Chi hit it in the outfield. It's as simple as can be really.

Dude I posted factual evidence. Not an opinion.

Those are MLB stats, not college. Also, what are the percentages of a hit and run with runners on 1st and 2nd instead of bunting?
Posted on 4/23/15 at 8:50 pm to ell_13
The numbers show the percentages to score a single run in an inning. It has been know for a while that bunting is not the higher percentage play. It is finally starting to be picked up on by MLB managers as well

We're gonna win this game because the 3rd base umpire was blind and bailed us out of a ridiculous decision.

The hit and run I searched and could find nothing. That may be bad as well. I am more responding to the people that say "you always bunt there". To the guy asking about college numbers, I would imagine the percentages would be even higher in college as the hitting numbers are better

quote:Again.. those numbers do not take into account who's batting. 1st and 2nd with the middle of your order up vs 1st and 2nd with the bottom. Where is that? A popup hitter who is your best bunter with a guy who's hitting everything to the OF behind him and a double play risk?
It has been know for a while that bunting is not the higher percentage play.

The only problem I have with CPM is he pulls some guys to early, or too late sometime. And he pushes too hard for sec tourney, his teams peak too early.
