I've always pulled for Heyward, but I do not get the hype. The Braves made out like bandits with that deal, plus Markakis is an offensive upgrade while making half of what Heyward is asking for on the market. J Hey is an average hitter that can't hit middle in fastballs, it's pretty simple to see that.

That's shitty on their part to actually hope someone struggles for petty reasons. I cannot stand Shelby Miller, most frustrating pitcher I have ever watched pitch, still wish him nothing but the best except against the Cards.

I have no issue with Jason Heyward I just simply do not believe he is worth $20MM/season.

I agree with this.

On the one hand he is only 25.

On the other hand .265, 15-18 HRs, good D, and a bunch of strikeouts is what you will get. I don't see him being better than that.

He has decent speed, but at 6'5" 245 lbs. that is going to diminish rapidly.

I'm only a casual fan and was disappointed in the trade, but only because he came in with so much hype that you think "maybe this year." I'm sure the Braves didn't really want to get rid of him, but the business side was the reason.

Man, I will take .265 18HR a gold glove and 15-20 SB's right now and smile. Will probably win a World Series with that or better from him to be honest.

I'm pretty sure he's making 13.3 million.

You will be like the delusional Braves fans. Already see it. No matter how much he struggles, you will come up with random numbers to make you feel better. Like Dale said earlier. If Miller drove you crazy, Heyward should as well. Be prepared for endless groundouts to 2nd and jammed at bats.

I'd prefer to stick to facts and not speculate salary or production or development. He is making 13.3 million this year no matter what. I'll pass on trying to predict a 25 year olds production in 2016 and beyond because, well, that's very stupid.

So preparing your franchise for the future is dumb

You just don't get it. The Braves decided he wasn't worth what the open market will dictate and decided to get something in return before it was too late. You either understand that or you don't, I guess you don't.

And if we win another hand full of division titles, and a couple world series, I'll live with it like I did with Shelby.

Already covering him up. You will keep doing it all year. You haven't won one with Heyward.

Like I said earlier, please pay him.

And I don't think you get that he's 25 years old and you hit him leadoff. How about you just sit back and watch the Cardinals do what the Cardinals do? 11 games on a new team and you'd think this was game 110 and he's 29. Goodness.

Also, it's the exact same thing for Shelby Miller, we chose 2 other younger pitchers and made him expendable for the same reasons, only the Cardinals front office runs circles around the Braves, so keep thinking what you think, it's part of the reason you never win anything but think you know it all.

Braves hit him everywhere. Lead off, 2, 3,6,7. Didn't work at any spot. He was best in lead off. Really sucked everywhere else. Like .212 suck.

Hog, Heyward was a hometown player who many really loved having but it was extremely painful to watch him perform offensively at the lowest end of his potential. At a certain point you end up giving up hope about that potential and realize that maybe your expectations were not correct to begin with.

It still is painful for some Braves fans to see him leave his home team, and that is a good reason why you see people hope he doesn't become an MVP for another team.

I do wish him well, but it is looking like Hart is a genius with the moves he made this offseason. Markakis is a great defensive player and a step up in offense so far.
