How are you liking Jason Heyward so far?

he's playing great defense tho!!1

still early
Tavarez death fricked everything up. And Miller was never going to be a Cardinal for much longer.
He doesn't listen to the pitching coach, manager, or catcher calling the game. He throws what he wants to throw. Been this way since they had to call his father in to have a heart to heart with him when he was 20 years old.
Heywards bat only hurts because Jay and a few others arent doing a fricking thing.
If heyward ever does get hot, him and Carpenter would set the table for a lot of Holliday rbi's.

Tavarez dying made Jason bat near the Mendoza line?

Miller has been outstanding for the Braves so far, granted it's only two starts. And he's 24
if the Cards end up losing Miller and Jenkins for one year of mediocre production from Heyward it will look pretty bad

2 starts, 10 innings pitched...
I see Shelby still hasnt figured out hoe to go longer than 5 or 6 innings in a start.

He's made 3 starts and is 2-0. He went 5 the first game, 5 in the second game which was delayed by rain and 6 today. 3 ERs through 16 innings. I will concede that his biggest issue thus far appears to be that he doesn't have an "out" pitch, which unnecessarily increases his pitch count.

he just throws so many fricking pitches. tons of foul balls. so far, he hasn't given up many runs, but he's killing our bullpen by making them throw 4 innings every 5th day.

He only threw 97 and 88 in his first two starts. I figured they were just trying to reduce wear and tear on his arm early in the year but I don't watch the Braves. The comment about the rain delay in one of his starts would make sense

How is he doing? Haven't payed attention at all to what him or the uptons are doing.

Mo said today he is targeting mid season to begin extension talks with Heyward, he isn't going anywhere.
To answer the OP, liking him a lot...for 11 games of 162.

Hardly any of this has anything to do with Heyward.

It's too early to tell anything this early in a baseball season. Last year at this point in the season, the Braves were 8-4 and we know how that turned out.
The thing that anyone will tell you about Heyward is he's streaky but his defense is good enough to carry him when he's not hitting well, and he walks enough that he generally gets on base at a decent rate. His WAR last year was 5.2 which is All-Star level. For whatever reason there are lots of Braves fans hate Heyward, but he's an exciting player who is still really young.

Because they loved him a lot, and he was hyped by their media as a 30+ HR hitting machine...and then their manager hit him leadoff and royally fricked him up.
He made significant changes to his stance and hands this offseason since he isn't hitting leadoff in STL ever, so 11 games is nowhere near enough time to really tell anything. All we know at this point is that he's likely going to win another gold glove, swipe around 20 bases, and is a perfect fit in the clubhouse. Everything else is way too damn early.
