I think they are appealing to people who like comic book movies but don't know anything about comics, like myself. I thought the trailer looked pretty good and I'll for sure go see it.

FF has never interested me very much, and so far this does not look like it will change my mind.

I usually only go to 4-6 movies per year. Maybe I'll eventually catch it on Netflix, but I don't anticipate spending money on it.

Y'all are judging based on old F4 movies.

Give it a chance it looks like it might have substance.

I haven't paid any attention to this move over the last year. I just realized that the best thing that the actor who is playing Dr. Doom was is playing Johnny Quid in Rock n Rolla? This movie is going to suck. I bet Miles Teller, is trying to get out of the sequels he might have to make.

Is it just me or does Thing look out of portions? He looks like a fat hulk with shingles.

Why would several really good actors agree to do this garbage?

Because the movie will probably still make a shite ton of money just like all the others even if the comic book fans hate it.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the trailer. As long as its better than the other Fantastic 4 movie which shouldn't be hard. And Kate Mara is in it, which is always a plus.

I'm also happy to see that Freddy got a new job.

Freddy rocks, from ribs to trimming hedges and then to a super secret think tank. American works really paid off for him.

The big question I have for a movie like this is what is the marketing angle for using a franchise with a familiar story and then changing key components of the back-story?

The core comic book nerds typically are enraged and disgruntled. And with a product like the FF that doesn't have the core appeal of a Superman or even a Spiderman I don't think you get as many casual viewers from teh general public.

Honestly the trailer doesn't look bad - if you never heard of the FF before - but when you know the backstory and have expectations for the origin of their powers, the characters ages/relationships, and the characteristics of their major enemy I don't know why they don't just make a different movie not named FF

Awful.
Will watch if Netflix streams it but otherwise it is a pass.

That's actually pretty common.

Hulk
Batman
Spiderman
Superman
Terminator

It happens all the time, sometimes for the better.

I see your point, but I could argue
Batman 1989 - Batman Begins 2005
Superman I 1978 - Man Of Steel 2013
Terminator 1984 - Terminator Genisys 2015
Those are all more than 10 years

You're forgetting about Batman Forever (1995), Superman Returns (2006), and Terminator Salvation (2009).

I guess I consider Batman Forever, Terminator Salvation, and Superman Returns to be continuations and not true reboots.

Batman Forever is definitely a reboot. In it Two Face kills Batmans parents instead of The Joker like the 1989 version. You can argue that Superman Returns and Terminator Salvation are not reboots. I think Superman Returns is because it chooses to ignore some of the details in previous Superman movies. It just kind of picks and chooses what it wants to use. I think Terminator Salvation is a reboot because Terminator 3 planned to have sequels that were scrapped. In Salvation they jump to a completely different time period and initially try to start a new trilogy with a new director. Ultimately it comes down to what you think a "reboot" is.

ETA: The way some of the wording is in Batman Forever makes it seem that Two Face killed Batman's parents, but apparently that is not the case.
