see this is the problem. some of you people need to get out of your sheltered life and try to take care of a farm with livestock sometime. it'll open your eyes to the real world

My grandparents had a farm as well as about 30 feral cats that they feed in a big trough who would kill all the rats.

It definitely happens. Wild Tom cats get pretty damn big and badass and wild dogs pack up and cause problems with livestock and wildlife. The easiest and most humane way to deal with them is shoot them when you get a safe opportunity to do it.

Not sure why anybody would brag about it on facebook though. That's just dumb.

This is why I hate social media. I wish it was never invented.

Gotta get out into the "real world"--the farm

For whatever it's worth, I grew up with 7 chickens.

This might be the most ignorant statement I've seen posted here in a while. Controlling the feral cat and dog population is attempting to restore the environment to the way it used to be before humans fricked it up on the first place.

Control the wild animal environment in ways other than blasting their heads with little arrow things and posting it on the internet --- especially when you're (SOMEHOW!?!?!?!) a vet.

One Tom cat will take care of 7 chickens in 2 weeks if he figures out how to get to them. If not, he'll go kill something else (like rabbits) and breed like a rabbit while he's doing it.

I should clarify, it was a several thousand acre farm with lots of livestock.

not your grandpappys 5 acre hobby farm. there's a difference

Congrats. He wasn't saying "the frick" to you being raised on a farm. If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

He said it'll open your eyes to the real world --- the real world being a farm.

As if all people (I imagine most) who haven't lived on a farm will never know anything about the real world.

what was he saying the frick to?

it was my understanding he quoted "try to take care of a farm with livestock sometime. it'll open your eyes to the real world"

everything I said was true. until you take care of a farm you won't know what I'm talking. you'll just continue saying the frick
