LINK
The school suspended around 30 kids actually. 11 for drug related issues and the others were suspended after phones were confiscated and they found evidence of students drinking
What a joke our society has become.
For the record Heroin was never found on campus.

No black kids to plaster on the news, huh? Oh well...broom meet rug...

what is it that you are calling a joke via this story?
that kids at a private school got special treatment in order to avoid media attention?
money has always = protection from the law and bright lights of public scrutiny and always will.

The school searching phones and expelling kids over drinking alcohol is absurd.

Yeah because the news spends tons of time every night discussing black drug crimes. :sarcasm:
sounds like this is getting a lot more press than drugs in an inner city school would get.

not really
you sign up for that kind of thing when you go to a private school.
the one I was at was a one strike policy for drugs and alcohol and they also had the right to search your shite if they suspected you of something.
the kids who got caught up and had their phones checked were probably linked to a dealer and got popped b/c the cops were poking around.

Confiscating their private property is just part of the plan to prepare them for their adulthood run-ins with the enforcers of America's obsession with victimless crime.

I am glad we didn't have cell phones in school

A DEA agent interrogated and threatened a buddy of mine who was expelled for alcohol... Private or public no student needs to be interrogated by a DEA agent over alcohol consumption(I don't even know why a DEA agent is interrogating 17 year olds over grams of marijuana)

I don't see the largest media company in Alabama running stories about drug busts in public schools - so actually this does seem to isolate the private school for bad treatment. And I can understand why the school would want it quiet - it could hurt enrollment if there is a drug problem there.
Anyway, take it with a grain of salt, John Archibald is Alabama's foremost purveyor of race and class warfare for profit.

I still don't understand why parents that give their kids all this money are surprised that they spend it on alcohol/drugs..

That story is pathetic and petulent. The writer intentionally implies the worst and offers silly commentary because he was unable to develop verifiable information to actually write a news story. He writes as if he has a right to the information and the school a duty to share it with him.

then dont use your phone to buy drugs (or booze when under age) and you wont get caught up in a drug sting

b/c its a drug and they were looking for the source?
I may not agree with marijuana laws but that doesn't mean it's difficult to understand why the DEA may shake down some kids when they are looking for the supplier.
