They have to be, to succeed in life

I think being fit or not fat these days requires a more regimented lifestyle which makes those people naturally more uptight. I think most people wish they could just not care and be that sloppy ol' fat guy doing fat guy things so it's funny to see I guess.

so they secretly dislike themselves and use humor to cope?
I know that John Candy was a severely depressed person due to his weight.

Buff fit guys have self esteem issues which is why they spend so much time on their bodies. They can't open themselves up to being funny and vulnerable.
Fat guys spend their entire time making up for their physical appeal by being over the top funny.
Guys not to fit or not to fat exist in that happy medium.

Ralphie May's not that funny but his wife is cute as hell. Can't figure that one out.

Did you honestly just figure this out?
I mean like a really high percentage of big funny guys commit suicide or OD on drugs.

A guy that's got money and some notoriety has a cute wife. It's not rocket science.
Ralphie May is also a horribly unfunny comedian.

Have you seen him lately? Changed his act and much more dirty and talk's about race relations and drugs - not safe comedy. Saw him a few months ago at a small venue and he went off for over 2 hours and it was funny as shite

Always been a big guy here. Remember trying to scoot into the desks at school wearing 34 waist jeans waaaaaaaay before I should have LOL.
I guess I steered into the skid. I got picked on a lot-not for my weight per se but in private school I was a po' kid. I was bright and quick witted so that constant razzing brought out an ever quicker trigger.
Big thing for me was also when the fam switched me to public schools and went from the poor kid to just another kid. Another kid that self deprecated and picked on everyone else 20 times better and quicker than they could do it to me. So maybe it was for the best?
College and my 20's were amazing. My mouthpiece and ability to make people (in specific females) laugh was worth its weight in gold. At work in commissioned sales it was worth more than that. Was a huge asset. Still is now.
I have to say though...I'm fairly well adjusted. Love being who I am and accepting of what I see in the mirror. There's a difference between that acceptance and being happy with it, as well. Totally outkicked my coverage with my wife and didn't need 6 years of Crossfit to snag her either. Used my mouthpiece instead, son.
I think that has a lot to do with it. Just being comfortable with who you are, embracing life and not taking yourself too seriously. Combatting insecurity with humor is a personality trait more than anything.

Hey, I'm happy as hell for the guy. Don't find him that funny but he and his wife seem like an awesome couple.

There was actually a study done on this. Don't ask where or who, I forgot and am too lazy to look it up. But this was their finding. Most of them are actually very depressed and use their humor as a barrier. Hence why many of the funniest ones OD- they are usually the most profoundly depressed.

Same reason fat chicks have to be easy/enthusiastic in bed.

I had a similar experience with razzing in school but, in a way, I'm kinda glad it happened. It definitely helps develop your wit. Unfortunately, many kids don't understand that you can turn stuff like that into a positive experience.
