He could definitely be the BPA available. CSC has been doing a mock draft and selected him over Scherff and Collins. I think it very conceivable. I'll copy their reasoning...

Oh, you don't think the Saints need to address cornerback in the first round of the draft because they've already signed Brandon Browner in free agency? Well, you're an idiot. The Browner signing is like putting a Band-Aid on a severed limb. It's not gonna stop the bleeding. The Saints need to do more than bet the house on a single starting-caliber defensive back. Look how well that worked last season. **cough Jairus Byrd cough** Because you can bet your arse that at least one of them will be injured at some point during the season and it's not going to be pretty if Terrence Frederick has to start a few games.

I get that we all want to see the pass rush improved. What we have to remember is that a good cornerback with coverage skills can help the front seven get to the quarterback just as much if not more than a flashy new DE/OLB prospect, by forcing QBs to hold onto the ball longer and giving the front seven more time to get there.

OPINIONS?

For me he wouldn't be the pick I would be most excited about but would definitely not be disappointed at all either.

He's my 1st choice of reasonable possibilities at #13.

Considering CBs are like QBs, they usually take time to get higher on the learning curve, I'd go with a OLB/DE type with #13...assuming there was one there that graded to the same level. I understand your logic about a CB being able to slow a QB down, but if you don't have guys on the line who can get to the QB, the best CB will eventually get burned.

With this said, I would not be disappointed with getting the #1 ranked prospect at the CB position. Good value at a position we need more help in.

Only an idiot would call someone else an idiot for having that opinion. Jesus Christ dude. I like Waynes a lot...but he's far from a sure thing. He could be last years Justin Gilbert. There are guys in the 2nd & 3rd round that can also turn into great players as well.

I guess he would be able to hold the nickle back fort down for a minute or two.

I wouldn't be upset. He's going to be a very good player IMO. I just don't know if I wanna go this high on cornerback AGAIN. I feel like Scherff and Collins solidify the OL and are a sure thing. After them, there's a pretty big drop off on OL. CB and other positions don't have that kind of drop off so if we have the chance at either, I'd prefer OL.

How well can he shut down a WR given no pressure against the opposing QB? Because that's where we are right now.

Geez, I'm all for Waynes at #13 depending on how the top 12 plays out, but calling someone on idiot, especially your readers who may have that opinion, is pretty dumb.

Anyway, I agree that Browner doesn't completely erase the need at CB. I love this signing, especially at the rate, but he will be 31 before the season starts. And, if we're being completely honest, he didn't have his best season in NE last year.

I don't think we need to force a CB pick at #13 or #31, but I would not be at all upset with Waynes at #13, or Kevin Johnson/Marcus Peters at #31. Ideally, I would really like Ifo in the 3rd. I think he'll make a GREAT nickle CB.

He's got flaws for sure. I'm not a huge fan, but if we drafted any CB at 13 I'd be upset.

There is just something abojt him that tells me he won't succeed. I have no idea what it is. Regardless of that, CBs almost never contribute as rookies and I would rather take a position that offers that immediate yield more often.

I really like Waynes. He and Kevin Johnson are the only CBs worth a 1st round pick IMO, and Waynes the only CB worth a top 15 selection.

I don't think we need to take a CB wit our first 3 picks though. We signed Browner and have bigger needs at other areas. Plus we can draft a solid CB in the 3rd round.

But if we go BPA at 13 and its Waynes, I wouldn't mind the pick. Same with Kevin Johnson at 31.

Still don't think we need to go CB that early though.

The best CB in the draft then a LB'er and then guard as the top 3 picks is not anything to get mad at.

that pick wouldn't surprise me at all.

I get what he's saying but what are the chances of having a few starters in the secondary go down with injuries two years in a row?

Browner is a little older than I thought so maybe picking Waynes wouldn't be such a bad thing. Kyle Wilson is on a one year deal, right? He's probably going to be a stop gap guy for depth in the secondary.

I wouldn't hate the pick at all. We need to get better on defense and usually the most talented pass rushers go quickly. A few teams could make some bizarre picks and some guys could fall but it seems like we seldom take players who slip some in the draft.

I guess Cam Jordan would be the recent exception because a few teams took a QB in that draft earlier than usual.
