True. All the crime that happens is further south than anywhere tourists would ever be. It might as well be in another state TBH

Downtown Chicago is one of the nicest, cleanest cities I've ever been to. I'm always surprised at how clean it is when I'm around that area doing stuff

This.. Coming home to downtown Birmingham, AL which is arguably the complete opposite was heartbreaking.

I agree, but it's a good place to start for the architectural tour

Not really. Be aware that there are architectural tours offered by several of the tour boat companies. The one you want is the original one sponsored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation which departs from Michigan Avenue and Lower Wacker Drive, not Navy Pier.

That's the one we did. When I return to Chicago it's a tour I'll do again.

I mean, it's like a 5 block walk to navy Pier from there...might as well check it out for 5 minutes and go from there.

To each his own, though

If you take the tour, ask the tour guide why on some of the old buildings they use a V for the letter U. I asked and the guy didn't really have a good answer.

Chicago might be the GOAT city from this time of year to September. Portillo's for Italian beef, Gino's East or Giordano's for pizza. Wrigleyville or Lincoln Park have a ton of bars if you are going to a Scrubs game. I did a couple brewery tours about a year ago that were pretty cool (Half Acre and and Revolution).

the Aquarium

Do not waste your time or money on this. What a huge disappointment. And to do the aquarium, plus the 2 shows gets into a lot of cash, for an average Aquarium.

So much to do in Chicago, but do not waste your cash at the Aquarium.

The Adler Planetarium in underrated, I'd typically go there instead of the aquarium

I love Aquariums, ocean critters, so i was pumped to go to the Chitown Aquarium, and was so disappointed.

Head over to Hawthorne Race Track. It's old, but it's a good time. I'd say go to Arlington, which is a great track, but they aren't running right now.

You have to be careful there. There's a downstairs part that a lot of people miss, and that's where most of the stuff is

Besides all the touristy stuff already listed, if you have time, hit up the bars in Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and Bucktown if you have a chance. Find one with a good patio and just enjoy the day if it's a nice day.

Nothing like bar-hopping a Saturday away in Chicago on a nice day.

good call. My thought was he could do that as part of the Cubs pre/post game.

If there's one thing chicago fricking loves, it's beer gardens in the spring/summer.
