Well seems like you have some knowledge on the matter.

I was working at Disney World when one crashed on site killing the pilot. Parts failure on these leave no room for error... With that in mind you have my blessing.

Its gonna cost a lot. First you'll need paid lessons, then you'll need to join a club to access a decent plane and log hours for the proper licenses, on top of that there will always be fuel costs; which are considerable.
Its possible to get licensed and do what you'd like to do, but it's going to cost a lot to get there.
If you're not making 200k+/year you should probably find another hobby... just sayin

Army paid my way. Honestly don't know how I would've been able to do it any other way. Extremely difficult for full-time working adults.

I've flown one. They're pretty damn easy and take almost zero skill....unless it is windy.
This guy literally spent two minutes showing me what did what and then I flew it

what is a cheap way to get into aviation
There is only one way to save money. Buy an airline ticket, preferably with reward miles. As a bonus, you're more likely to arrive at your destination safely.

I actually would like to die by freefalling and instantly merging with the ground so I'm gonna refrain from making fun of you for this.
You have an odd concept of 'merging'

At least I wasn't drunk
It was pretty fricking easy, and if I crashed, I'd only be killing myself. No harm, no fowl

Back in the 1980s when ultralights were popular my grandfather built two from kits. They were each powered by a pair of chainsaw motors (driving one prop) that had a TBO of about 50 hours. Pasture flying is a lot of fun--buzz the cows to get them to move so you can land and having to pull up to avoid fences.

You can get a sport pilot license. A lot less hours and no medical restrictions.
Renting a small plane is between $75 - 125 an hour.
You could buy a 152 cessna used right now for $10k-20k

I know you are the senior pilot here. BUT every time there is a GA thread, rather than maybe help the issue, you generally make a snarky comment.

hot air ballooning were two hobbies picked up by many of my dad's baby boomer friends.
I know some guys that bought a hot air balloon without knowing shite about them. First voyage it was too windy and the balloon ripped the chimney of a really expensive house. One of them broke his arm when he fell out of a jeep that was trailing the runaway balloon. He was trying to catch the dangling rope from the runaway balloon while standing in the moving jeep.
