I am getting away from my 2 liter bottles and foam blocks.
I am making up 20-30 this week and using 1/2in pvc and pool noodles. I have a couple different designs in mind but curious how ya'll do them.

oil jugs from the oil change place down the street. FREE and plentiful. Tie a railroad spike for weight.

I can't find a link but I found a styrofoam noodle erector set at Wal-Mart a few months ago that had 15 pieces in it. Noodles with channels in it that were precut to the perfect size and came in a bag. Perfect jug line setup. They were on an endcap and I'm not sure if they still have them or not.
I just tie nylon line with a hook and 3 oz catfish sinker at the bottom

Gallon chemical jug with big cap/pour hole.
24" of trotline with loops tied on both ends.
Loop one end around the handle and pull the tail through.
Tie 1/4 ounce bell sinker 4 inches above bottom loop using a simple over hand knot.
Using the bottom loop thread through the eye of the hook and up the backside for double line through the eye. I prefer 5/0 red heavy wire circle hooks.
I prefer to bait with fresh cut shad, but we've used live bream and earthworms with success as well.
The loops on both ends allow you to switch hooks, or switch out the whole rig on the jugs quickly. Store everything inside the jug with the cap back on it for organizational purposes. That's why you need the jug with the big cap.
Last step... post up like a boss on facebook.
Those are all jug caught blue cats.

We have ones like you are describing.
For the inside weight we use sand to save on cost. Best thing since sliced bread IMO

About $30 total for 16 jugs (1/2" PVC filled with foam). 6ish' of (braided, the twisted tangles) string on each one. One hook 2' from weight, one hook 4' from weight. And don't forget your reflective tape for all you night jugging missions.

Never used anything but old plastic jugs sprayed bright pink to see easier. Med size gatorade bottles work well and don't take up too much space, Size 5 circle hook. Have gotten lazy last couple of years and started running 2 hoopnets, catch more fish than I care to clean at one time but I have plenty of filets...

18" pool noodle with 1/2 pvc. You don't have to cap them, mine work fine with open ends. I drilled holes at the end to attach line. Works like a charm and cheap cheap
