Biggest Coaching Blunder Yet

This is the worst I've ever seen. Asik played 24 minutes. 24. A guy who wasn't even employed at the beginning of the season played 40.
8 offensive rebounds in 24 minutes against this team of midgets. The same team he absolutely ABUSED 2 weeks ago. Yet you are going to take him out and let us get absolutely dominated on the boards by a team of midgets. Its truly unbelievable.
2 games of absolutely destroying Faried. Just absolutely murdering him. And Monty is going to play Cunningham over him. I wouldn't blame Asik for not showing up to practice after this bullshite.

Dante was only unemployed due to legal issues FYI
But yeah

Everyone knows you match up to the lineup they want and not the other way around. This is and always has been a staple of Monty's.

Regardless, he's not an NBA starter. He had 1 offensive rebound in 41 minutes and made Faried look like Shaq.
You remember how much Asik just destroyed Denver last time vs how Ajinca did? He's just way too big for them to handle. But we are going to play down to them? The only reason Kenneth Faried isn't an all-star is because he's too small. So lets just negate his one disadvantage by making sure everybody is undersized.

Qpon should've gotten more run too.

I don't like the concept of "go small" and counter as well with Tyreke defending the SF.
He's too short and too slow. He's just horrid defensively which makes it utterly useless when he's matched up against a faster SF or a better shooter.

If Tyreke was white he'd get that slow label tossed around more often. He plays like a 35 yr old with arthritis.

Wasn't Faried matched up with AD most of the time? I agree with your overall point, but I don't think making Cunningham the scapegoat helps your case.
One reason Monty may have gone small is AD would have been on Galinari meaning AD on a guard on switches a lot, but I think AD can handle that switch just fine.

Talk about the jump shots we took in both over times. All fricking jump shots.

Its the stupidest thing of all time. By that logic, everybody in the NBA should be under 6 feet. The reason people are in the NBA is because its a huge advantage.
Failing to exploit a massive advantage is just as bad as allowing yourself to be at a disadvantage.
And its not like Asik can't handle Denver. He is so ridiculously dominant against them.

So? You see the putback Faried got in OT.... Ball hit floor as he was fighting for it with AD. The one AD had to knock out of bounds because Faried got it giving them another possession?
Yeh both of those are what happen when AD is your center and your PF is 6'8 220..... It's a whole different story when Asik puts his big-arse Turkish frame on Faried and those other undersized losers.

It's not about size it's about speed. Speed kills. Gordon on Gallinari all night happened off of switches which meant the guy originally guarding him is now on the guard Gordon was covering. Like I said in my post above, I think AD can handle that switch, but most bigs can't which is why most coaches match up, or rather down.

So why do teams even have centers?
Posted on 3/15/15 at 8:18 pm to TheSexecutioner
Because it negates speed on the inside, but not so much inside outside.
They swapped on the outside which left HUGE miscommunications on swapping (i.e. Tyreke not switching) which led to easy shots.
Cunningham was not the issue defensively, Tyreke was.

Because size can kill too. Just see Asik in the last game vs. the Nuggets. 42 wrote an article a few months ago about Monty and loss aversion, you're not going to get against the grain coaching out of him.

Time and again. I wonder what the rotations would be like if the team was 100% healthy and this roster from the beginning of the year. Would Tyreke find himself on the bench at the end? And to be fair, Tyreke did play fairly efficiently and should have won the game in overtime. He makes that shot and he's the hero instead of the goat.

offensively he's too sporadic. His stat lines show up nicely, but the basketball IQ decisions throughout the game and down the stretch will kill playoff teams. Ontop of that offensively, he's too one dimensional. He can't shoot, at all. He thinks this is his early season stretch where he was shooting >40% from 3 to be jacking up so many lately. 4 attempts a game, makes 1.2 for 29.2% this month. Shooting 27.4 for the season.
We've seen it before with SA and Ginobili, they need to reign Evans in. TIGHT.

Did you post something like this on FB? If so, I know who you are now.

Asik better have been hurting for him to have not been playing. Was he getting abused earlier? I missed first half

He had a good stat line but I didn't think he looked good much of the game honestly, and I'm usually one of the people defending him on the board. There were several shots in the lane that he didn't even try to challenge. Still, he should have played more in the 2nd half.
And while I think the point of the OP is right, we lost this game because of too many unforced turnovers and missed free throws.
