Sorry I just need to get with the times. Regularly spend much more dining out at american restaurants.

Is Bien involved? The sassy petite proprietor of years past?

$12.95 is expensive for a vermicelli bowl.

I dont eat a lot in a sitting but I finish my vermicelli bowl every week. Most adults can finish a vermicelli bowl. The "not many humans" is pretty exaggerated

Compare their prices to the place I eat at every week. This place is just as good, if not better.

Samesies

I know Koi sushi probably makes it because all the Chinese students fo there for the Szchechuan(sp) cuisine and because of take out. I think pho and banh mi have gotten to the point where people were willing to drive out of their way for it, but it needs daily patronization.

I hope they do well but their prices are a bit high; I couldn't imagine how much they charge for a Cafe Sua Da(vietnamese ice coffee) or a soda.

This is great. They need a liquor license though.

The 20 ounce soda is $1.95. Not sure about you but I'm guessing they aren't paying the house note on the soda profits.

The people that had it before had to go back to Taiwan because of sick family members and the Little Saigon owners are their friends and agreed to sub lease the place. The owner of the building would not allow it so they are just running it u til the other owners come back. They might stay if the owner allows them to lease it after the current lease expires which is about a year from now.

This just made my day. I could swear I read a post on here just a few weeks ago saying they weren't going to open near campus after all and that the deal fell through. I know what's for dinner tonight!

What's the difference between the rice noodle bowl and vermicelli bowl? I've had pho plenty of times but don't recall what noodle it came with, I just order pho and whatever meat I want. Which of those options is a classic pho, rice noodle or vermicelli or is it just a preference thing?

pho is with a thicker rice noodle. pho has broth. vermicelli bowl is a thinner rice noodle with pickled carrots, cut egg roll, skewered pork, lettuce, bean sprouts, peanuts, and fish sauce.

To not scare the guy away from a vermicelli bowl, the sauce is Nuoc Cham Sauce, not fish sauce. I know its made with it but fish sauce by itself as a sauce would be pretty bad

I know some restaurant use straight fish sauce and I've had that before. The version you are talking about has fish sauce, lime juice, garlic, sugar, and chili pepper. I made this version of the sauce before and it's pretty versatile on most dishes.

i thought so too initially, but it's not all that empowering since the bowl has many other flavors from the skewered meat, egg rolls, herbs, pickled carrots. The vermicelli and cucumber neutralize the saltiness of the fish sauce.
