3 of the top 44 picks: so who do we take?

1.13
1.31
2.12
Jimmy's gone, there is nothing we can do. How are we getting better? Let's hear it.
Honestly, I think we are poised to trade back in the draft. Maybe move back into the 20's, pick up a mid round pick in this year or next years draft. But let's pretend we stick with what we have.
1.13- Schreff is my pick if there. But I dont think he will be. Shane Ray has been slipping, and may be our best value overall at this spot.
1.31- Losing Graham, and with Colston on his last legs, it's important we add another big target for Brees. Dorial Beckham-Green looks like a Mike Evans clone, and would fit nicely in our offense. Jalen Strong also in contention here.
1.44- AJ Cann, G from South Carolina. Need to beef up the interior for the future, as Evans and Grubbs are aging and potential casualties

I want DGB but with Payton's wanting a good locker room I don't think he will draft a guy with character issues

I wouldn't hate getting these players
Although i think Schreff is going to move to G. that seem sot be what i hear. IDK.
So idk about drafting 2 guards in the first 44 players.

I'd like to trade down with that second 1st round pick.

I really hope Schreff falls to us

like i said, i think losing Graham makes a big WR a priority. Might not be DBG but someone over 6'2" im thinking. I was content on waiting to later in the draft, but with this extra pick, it might happen earlier

So you're labia swelling has subsided?

I'm worried about the value of that 13th spot and who will be there, which is why I'd like to trade back and possibly acquire a third or maybe even a second round pick along with it. If we do sit there I look at Schreff, Beasley, Collins, Ray as possibilities.
As far as the 31st spot I'd be fine more than fine with a Beckham-Green.
I think they will address the CB2 role via free agency, at least I believe so. It would make the most sense considering corner back is extremely hard to predict. McKinney is another option at 31.

I never really disliked the deal on paper, per se.
But do I still think Loomis is worthless; yes.
Do I think this is a black on our front office; yes.
Do I think we'll miss Jimmy Grahan; yes.
Do I trust our front office to draft well; naw, not really.

Judging by Loomis' comments on why they traded JG, I think we are headed towards some early defensive picks.

Oh I agree. I think we add Dewayne Bowe In FA as well as add one in the draft.
I think Jaelen Strong maybe our guy in the draft or Devante Parker

13. Brandon Scherff - the 2015 version of Zach Martin. Solid player that can play both inside and out, strong hands, good feet, high IQ, and crazy motor. He is the definition of a mauler in the run game. He loves to hit people, so the screen game makes him a viable lead blocker. Transitioning to a run game with him and unger in the middle will open up holes and create a clean pocket for Brees to drop a 40yard bomb easily.
31. Maxx Williams - 6'4 TE, 250lbs TE.
Decent sized TE that isn't getting much love, but tape and scouts rave about him. He's a willing blocker, but needs to put on a little bit more weight. Pretty fast (4.78s 40) and good body control and movement (4.37s shuttle). Can high point the ball and is solid route runner. Most people say his ceiling is a Jason Witten, others see him as a Jeremy Shockey. No Jimmy Graham? Here's a viable fix. He doesn't have to come in and dominate in the passing game as Stills/Cooks should take a leap, Toon should improve, and Colston should still be as productive. Transitioning to a heavy run game makes him a smart pick if other picks are a stretch.
44. Benardrick McKinney 6'4 246lbs ILB
With Lofton gone and the Saints looking to want to get better coverage and speed in the LB group, we come at McKinney. A guy with good size, speed (4.66s 40, 4.27s shuttle), and athleticism (40.5in vert), he has the skills to become a playmaker at the ILB position. Very smart and high IQ player, tends to have a nose for the ball, can blitz, and is pretty good in coverage to keep up with TE's.
Solid college career: 3 years
243 tackles (19.5 for loss)
7.5 sacks
8 PD
1 FF

while i agree, LB pool is pretty weak. I could see us taking a CB with the 31 or 44th pick. I dont think there will be one of value at 13.

Thoughts on devin funchess?

I agree with your picks 1000% as they are quality players that fill glaring needs. I'd like to see how the rest of free agency plays out for us cause I think the Saints will look to fill some holes still.

I think Hill and Watson are the only tight ends we need IMO

1. Brandon Scherff G Iowa
1. Marcus Peters CB Washington
2. Cedric Ogbuehi T Texas A&M
An OL of Armstead, Scherff, Unger, Ogbuehi and Strief makes me feel A LOT better going into 2015. On defense, Marcus Peters is growing on me and growing on me fast. I love his attitude, I love the way he plays and it seems the birth of his son really humbled him.

What about Maxx Williams with the 3rd pick? Ot with the first and defense with the 2nd one.

Lots don't think funchess won't be a TE

NFL.com suggests Louisville's Gerald Christian and South Alabama's Wes Saxton as two late-round developmental tight end options for the Saints should they elect not to spend a pick on the position on Day 1 or 2. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound Christian can line up inline, as a slot receiver and in the backfield, versatility that would surely appeal to the Saints. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein compares him to Owen Daniels. "While he won't look as natural and fluid as you would expect, the tape shows a guy who can get separation in space," Zierlein wrote. "Has traits to be a quality player who brings diversity and toughness to an offense."

the thing is, we need picks who can step in right now and play. Loomis has not done a good job at that at all lately.
