Installing a new car radio

I drive a 2007 jetta and I am replacing the radio/cd player.
I found one that is compatible with my car.
What all do I need to install it myself? The radio itself, an adapter and what else?
Thanks

Wiring harness.

If it's designed to fit into your vehicle without an installation kit, then I think the radio and harness would be all you would need.

Easiest way is to buy from Crutchfield. They will send you everything you need specifically for your car including instructions.

Second on Crutchfield, even if it is more expensive. Top notch customer service, and they send you everything specifically for your car to save you he hassle of tracking down extra kits or a harness.

Crutchfield is way over priced. Find what you need on their site and buy else where. I found 2 pairs of speakers I wanted a couple weeks ago on Crutchfield that were $200 a pair. $100 a pair on Amazon.
Amazon
Crutchfield

Was the seller you bought from on amazon a certified dealer? Did the speakers come with the manufacturers warranty? If not then that would explain the price difference. Crutchfield is a great company to work with.

The link on Amazon shows that it's sold by alpine, so it should.
I used to get Crutchfield catalogs when I was a kid, and and never bought from them because they've always sold their stuff at msrp, and rarely below. But there's a reason they're still in business this long. And the advice posts explain all.

I agree. Steer clear of Crutchfield. Just get your wiring harness and the deck and install kit. With the right parts, it should take no longer than 15 minutes with the right tools.

I used to be anti-crutchfield, but recently I just bought a new radio for my vehicle from crutchfield and I got everything I needed with two sets of rca's for $150. It comes with the manual for your vehicle and and instructions for installing the harness.
Like others have said though, go elsewhere for speakers. Try sonielectronix
ETA: hammertime knows whats up
