Yeah but, there was just Simon and his solo career was just as successful if not more successful than when he was with garfunkel.

Marvin Gaye. His album -Here, My Dear - which all proceeds went to ex-wife Anna Gordy was a masterpiece. On this album, as well as What's a Going On album, Gaye was responsible for all main and backing vocals. His range as a Tenor remains to me the best ever in the R&B/Pop genres.

You addressing me? If so, my favorite vocalists just happen to be male. What's the problem? The OP asked for 'favorite,' not the 'best.' If it was the 'best,' I'm sure my list would be different.
