either a former spouse or close SO. The relationship ended badly and your are not in contact. You hear that ex is now dealing with serious health issues. Do you contact them with sympathy, offers to help, whatever? Or do you just leave well enough alone.

If you show up now, you could look guilty. Keep your distance and avoid contact.

Leave them be and try not to contact them

Be classy and good hearted. Of course you would offer to help. Life is too short to play BS games.

Always offer help if possible.. It shows you aren't holding grudges and care about the person

Ended badly = leave well enough alone.
I don't give a shite what happens to my ex. As a matter of fact, hopefully something bad happens.

Ask your new SO what they think. You don't want to make them mad

Leave them alone unless they reach out to you.

Why? If they have family and friends who care, I doubt they want to hear from someone who they dated and the relationship "ended badly".
I would tell my ex to frick off if I was sick and she tried being all sweet to me.

I send a simple card like this

Go for one last hook-up before she's too far gone. (Provided "serious health issues" isn't code for STD.)

I'd send mine a razor blade and a note that says, "Do us all a favor"

I have experience with this type of situaton, but our relationship didn't end badly. I offered my help of course.
I would lean towards offering help/sympathies unless it ended REALLY poorly. She cheated on you or some craziness like that....i may leave well enough alone.

If it ended badly and it was your fault, might want to contact them to apologize.
Outside of that, move on with life.

Depends on the person.
Some people will be embarrassed and it may bring back feelings of heart break if you contact them, thus making it worse.
Some may like the company and attention.
Personally, I'd leave it alone.
