Do you even lift, bro? Fitness or Narcissism?

I don't think it has to be completely one or the other. I am of the mind that in most cases, narcissism is the main reason.
And no, I don't currently work out. I did for a large portion of my life, though.

Pre marriage you're probably right most of the time. Post marriage you're incorrect.

It's a lifestyle, make it part of yours.

In my experience, maybe half of the time it's narcissism. The other half is just "I've always lifted"/fitness/stress relief.

Immaturity and/or insecurity over penis size

Lifting or keeping yourself in shape is a good thing to do.
I just don't understand why a 54 year old grown man would take selfies while working out and post them on FB.
I mean, really, dude?

This is a problem way beyond lifting.
Have you met a crossfiter?

I guess I can't say that I have.
It's just mind-boggling when this guy I went to high school with starts bombarding FB with his selfies.
I mean, I was 13 once, a long time ago..............

I judge based on the person's commitment to fitness outside of lifting is, and what they use it for.
I don't question people who work out incessantly for some other purpose. Be it a sport or career or whatever. But people who let everyone know they lift and talk about supplements the way some of us talk about football or politics are in another category.

its a little of both for me. I have a desk job. If I didn't workout daily, I'd be a fat frick of epic proportions. I'd also be too out of shape to do the shite I want to on weekends. So yeah from that perspective its about fitness. But I certainly don't mind my wife or anyone else complementing how I look. So...narcissism. But I sure as hell don't take pics of myself or shite like that.

a good friend and former roommate is a fitness nut, eats healthy, runs, lives for the gym, has had numerous "health" related surgeries, and is now undergoing a double knee replacement from all of that righteous living

I lift, not at like Olympic levels or anything, but I try to workout around 5-6 times a week.
I'd say it's about 30% I want to look good, 20% I want to be healthy, and 50% it helps my anxiety so much it's not even funny.
