Yep.
Wife and I both work out and really notice if it we have to take a week or two off. Just feel better and honestly find that it's good for our marriage to go to the gym together.
for a lot of people it's narcissism though - plenty of people talking (or posting) about their new max bench press or posting up shirtless selfies.

Not necessarily.

The driveman lives by one motto:
it's much easier to stay in shape, then to GET in SHAPE
DRIVEMAN OUT

Probably a little bit of both. In the narcissism sense, not much different than buying nice clothes, driving a decent vehicle, keeping a nice haircut, etc. Just takes more time and effort.
I want to look good now, the extra strength and endurance can be helpful at times, but I also don't want to end up a fat old man with bad knees and a bad back who gets winded walking to the end of the driveway to get the paper.

One needs a motiviation to stay fit:
1. Physical job
2. General health/fitness for life, particularly later in life
3. Vanity
Any of these or a combination are 100% of most people's motivation for exercising.
Replace physical job with physical hobbies and that's pretty much my motivation in a nutshell.

Both.
I'm a narcissist because I work out and in pretty good shape compared to most people.
