Good point and something I may have missed.

What food did they have? I don't remember any animals or crops

She mentioned the community being built to be self-sustaining even before the ZA.

Not sure what they have exactly but that place is huge and the homes ran around 800k. So you know the materials and construction inside that place is legit.

Good episode and agree with most of the talking points over the last few pages.

Did Deanna also make Mischonne a constable?

I laughed in Daryl's interview how he was still walking around with the possum

I wonder if this was an oversight in the set design or if there is an actual reason (ie keeping people in not out). I'm thinking it is just a blunder in the set design.

They built this set in an actual neighborhood so maybe they had to build it that way to keep the roads clear or something

I thought this episode was pretty good and by the end of it the story had progressed alot. I think the take on this place is that it is a safe place, menaing its inhabitants don't mean them any harm, but it is also a very dangerous place because these people are so weak and vulnerable and it is a setup any outsiders would want to take. The only reason it has survived was mentioned by the senator lady, the entire northern Virginia area, millions of people, were evacuated. There aren't any people, or walkers in that area of the country. Maybe just a few walker stragglers here and there.

I also think Rick's crew was recruited with a purpose, protection. The senator knows these people are weak, they have probably started to increasingly encounter walkers, or maybe roving bands, while on scavenger hunts. There are also the 3 people she banished. She knows there are threats out there and that this community needs protection. I doubt she really understands just how bad it is on the outside though.

There is something with that girl. Pretty sure she is the one who took Rick's gun. She might even be a plant for some outside group and she is giving them intel. Over course, I think if that were the case they would already know this place was weak and would have taken it down by now. She's been there for months already. So I am thinking this girl is just feral, like the group she was outside too long. I think she definitely took the gun though.

Thought Darryl might be feeling out of place. I think he got reassurance whne the bada$$ braintrust, Rick, Carol, and Darryl met outside and Rick told them that they were either going to make this place work or they were going to take it from them. Took that to mean that these people were either going to get on Rick's page or they were going to get out. I'm sure Darryl liked that line of thinking because I think he was worried Rick was going soft. Rick isn't going to go back to soft.

That's a hell of a catch or you've been reading the comics and it's a possible spoiler. I hope it's the former.

I definitely noticed it and havent read comments, although I didnt form a conclusion, just noticed it was inconsistent

Here's an overhead shot of the wall. It's awfully close to the actual street so I'm guessing you're right. They probably knew people would nitpick about the braces but really didn't have much of a choice.

Yep

Also if they are looking to give Daryl a job that's pretty simple: hunter. Go kill and clean and stock the freezers full of meat

It really is annoying and sadly I think this may have been a good by the set designers for the show and people having no clue how something works and instead thinking it looked "cool"

Yeah, could be. That's disappointing if so.

Not so much that Rick and crew are the bad guys, but it's neat to see two groups of survivors with totally different outlooks due to how they've been living.

No doubt Rick and his crew are suffering from some serious PTSD from all their ventures. And this new group, with their secure way of life and order in their community is so different than what Rick is used to.

But deep down, this is what Rick wanted. He just didn't think it could be achieved and him now becoming a Sheriff again should do wonders for his state of mind.

Agreed on just about all of that. Surely, deep down it's what everybody wants, at least on some level. Everyone in a ZA atmosphere surely would have to dream about a day when things get back to some resemblance of normal...even someone like Darryl who never really fit in with "normal life."

The first thing I'd do if we decided to stay there was knock out the two walls between the houses and connect them into one giant house. That way your group isn't really split up, and you could occupy both houses while still being together. Especially considering the houses are only a few feet apart. I'd also go around reinforcing every entrance (and checking for secret ones, in case the townspeople were spying on me). I know I'd be hella paranoid if I were in Rick's shoes right now.

Everytime that Alanna girl would talk on the Talking Dead aftershow was so cringe-worthy. She had like zero self-awareness. She would butt in on the other two guests' answers, and like I said, just made me cringe when she opened her mouth.

The most curious part is why the tapes for transparency? Who is she showing them to?

Interested in that as well.

Also thought it was weird that she interviewed Carl and fricking Judith. Why the hell wouldn't she have stayed with Rick or someone else while Coral was being interviewed?

On Talking Dead last night they Denise Huth said the tapes were available to all in the community to come and watch to learn about any new people. They didn't even remotely touch on that in the episode.

Alexandria has Sunshine Laws? The senator went straight from DC to this community. She has little idea what kind of crap is going down outside those walls. Transparancy is a remnant of the pre-ZA world in stark contrast to the Ricktatorship. This lady probably still believes in participation medals for the Alexandria youth soccer program.

I thought the boys said Enid had been there for 8 months, but that it had taken her a few weeks to start talking to them.

"Enid is from outside too....she just came a few months ago."

They did say that it took her a few weeks to start talking though, but it definitely wasn't 8 months (only "a few months ago").

Good thought but there are just no resources to do that (reconfiguring load bearing walls, new slab for the connection, etc.)

Agree with that as well. Also, it could be that they recruited Rick and company and are giving them the high life because they were scouting them and saw how dangerous (read: worthy) Rick's crew is and instead of facing the potential of them attacking or invading Alexandria, might as well get them on your side first to avoid that (and then of course fend off future possible attacks from other groups).

This senator lady seems pretty smart and put-together, so she knows that getting someone like Rick on your side is a positive in a situation like this, so I'm sure they'll keep plying them with lots of cool shite (and not just food, shelter, clothes, hot water, etc.) to keep in their good graces and make them want to become a part of that society.
