sounds like an oddly familiar story. The last one ended with antifreeze. Hope this one ends better.

Had almost exact same problem. This is not just about the dog, this is neighborhood politics and they're testing you. You need to let them know that you don't care what they think, you're not intimidated by them, and you're not gonna let them have any say in how you live your life. Once mrs busy body gets it in her head that you bought and own your property and it's not gonna be run by anyone but you, she'll stick to her own yard. I had to go over and tell the old man doing this to my family that he wasn't to step foot on my property, he wasn't gonna yell at any women in my family and if he had issues he could come directly to me and if we couldn't come to an understanding we could settle things through litigation. Now he waves and tries to make small talk with us about the garden and waves when he sees us. Just stand your ground and be firm.

People who don't keep their dogs quiet (especially at night and on weekend mornings) are really shitty neighbors. Stop being so inconsiderate of your neighbors, and keep your dog quiet, that would be my advice.
How about you try actually reading the thread
I'm not too worried about hoa because I know I'm not in the wrong. I just don't feel like having to deal with this in a weekly/monthly basis

Look at it from her point of view. If you still feel your dog isn't a problem, then try to kill her with kindness. Take a look at her property and see if she needs a little extra work done. Ask to do it for her. Grill up some steaks and invite her over to be neighborly. Little old ladies are set in their ways and hate change so to overcome this, you need to get on her good side. She will come around, if you make the effort. Don't let it fester.

I tried the nice approach. Gave her my #, said to call if she hears and I will do my best to take care of it.
No call, Just a hoa letter.
As I said she will bark once if there is a knock on the door, but I know for a fact she doesn't bark "into the late hours of the night"

Im an idiot for saying a lab shouldn't be kept inside or in a small yard
That's correct. 2 weeks ago I had to put my 6.5 year old white lab to sleep due to cancer. It was the hardest thing I've had to do in my 29 years of life. I can assure you I would've done anything for that dog and she would've done anything for me. I rescued her as a puppy before she was put to sleep. We would go to the park and go on walks every day. She was spoiled rotten, would even sleep in our bed at 80 lbs. She loved to swim but more than anything she just wanted to be around us. My dog wouldn't have made it very long had she not been adopted and come to live in our neighborhood home. So yea basically I think you're an insensitive retard that doesn't know shite about taking care of dogs and is just generalizing pets from whatever very limited experience you have.

I had neighbors like this, old couple that walked their dogs in strollers.
His wife constantly complained about our dog, and one day said that my dog (who lives indoors full time) growled at her husband out the window and he's terrified of my dog now.
I saw him outside a couple days later, walked over to talk to him about it, and he had no idea what I was talking about. He said he liked my dog.
Moral of the story is that old ladies like to bitch about stuff.

Cut a slit in her Depends and give her something she hasn't experienced since the FDR administration.

Said dog bark woke her up from her nap at 3pm.....
Using the schedule below during this time of the day, from 2:30pm until 4pm, only to run it for about 3 minutes with about a 10 minute break.
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, use the chainsaw.
On Tuesday and Thursday use the weed eater.
On Saturday and Sunday use the lawn mower.
If you don't own some of these items borrow them.
Also, take your dog to someone else's house for a few days or a week and see if she complains.
I have a good idea trumpet you can borrow, I could probably get you a drum set if you don't want the trumpet. She will forget about the dog.

quote:This is most likely the correct answer.
Most dog owners thinks that their dog "hardly barks" which means that they do bark and causes some nuisance.

Yeah, I'm sure it never barks at night and I'm sure those yards in your "nice" neighborhood are large and your homes aren't super close together either.
