I still don't see how they are hurting their profession.

Are Doctors in CA that give out medical marijuana cards the equivalent to the pain dope doctors in the south that only take cash and write the max doses of pain meds?
No, they're much worse. Legitimate pain doctors prescribe healing medicine made in the good ol' US of A under scientific scrutiny while these dope doctors peddle illegal drugs grown in the woods by mexican cartels and laced with god knows what.

They need to just legalize like Colorado. They're making a ton of tax revenue, and making it harder for kids to get weed. Who would you rather sell weed, someone licensed by the state who checks ids before walking in the door or a drug dealer? My first dealer was a cashier at a Taco bell near my house, and it was in a good Orlando suburb. I met a couple different hookups over there. In high school, it was much easier to get weed than alcohol. Dealers don't check ID, and often have other stuff they'll try to sell too.

No they're far worse. They blatantly advertise that if you've ever had a headache, they can write you a prescription for medical marijuana for $40. They set up right next to medical marijuana shops and pull in customers off the beaches and boardwalks
Is there a difference between a script and a card? Is the card like an all-access pass, or do you just need a card to get a script?

She likes the BBC.
eta:I thought the card gave you access to the Despensaries(sp) and the card was your script.

Doc writes the rx. You take the rx to the state people who check it with your id and issue you a card. The card is your admission to the dispensary

You can't even compare the 2. Anyone in Cali that has $30 and is over 18 can walk into a doctor on the boardwalk on Venice Beach, or hundreds/thousands of other places, and get a weed script. You don't need records or anything, they approve everyone and it takes 5 minutes. Getting pain pills is WAY more difficult no matter where you live.

Colorado still does both, but recreational cannabis has become dramatically cheaper in the last few months, to where some larger dispensaries sell it cheaper than medical. So they will probably get rid of the medical system at some point in the future. Also, with recreation prices continue to drop, it'll finally kill off they black market, until its comparable to the moonshine market.
Within ten years, it'll be legal in almost every state, except for maybe a few southern holdouts. From there, it'll be like alcohol. You'll have dry counties, just like with booze. There are many cities in Colorado that don't sell it at all. But if they government tries to regulate it using the ABC store method, you'll probably see a larger black market in those areas.

Do not see Colorado getting rid of medical.

I'm here, and I think they will. Prices have become comparable, there's no differences between the dispensaries. Three only difference is tax rate. Some big cities, like Aurora, never even offered medical licenses. They went straight for recreational to gain tax revenues that other cities were collecting from their residents.
Not to mention, with medical, dispensaries can only grow more if thru sign more patients. With recreational, it's hour much warehouse space you can get (which is getting very tough to find). There medical system is very complicated and full of times. Eventually the state will decide they want the extra taxes and less headaches.
