Collecting child support: Hire lawyer to set up or go with La. Social Services?

[Any advice is appreciated in advance.] I'm a single father with sole custody of one child after full judicial trial. Originally filed for support a year ago; mother counter-acted with some BS motion that tried to rehear the case and put my application on the back burner.
Now I'm ready to get support established and start collecting -- even if the effort only results in gas money for me from her. Should I resume with my attorney, or should I just try to save on legal fees and sicc the state bill collectors on this?

Lawyer
If gone through full court process, she should already have wages garnished

Not only get a lawyer, get a damn good one

I have a damn good lawyer -- he won me "permanent" sole/primary custody -- but he's costly.
On a side note, my ex hired a new lawyer after getting her arse handed to her in court. The new lawyer is "politically connected" to the judge.

He should be costly if he's good. You won't regret it. If there is ever a time to spend a lot of money it would be to fight for your kids. Good luck!

I was writing her checks faithfully for years, then she married a sociopath with mental issues, substance issues, domestic-violence conviction, and host of arrests on DWI, etc.
I knew nothing about his history until called by CPS to learn she was in hospital. Managed to piece together through subpoenaed records that she was mulling suicide and taking our kid with her -- and she told her psychologist.
She tried to blame the freakout on taking Chantix -- but not the weed, cocaine, Xanax, and host of antidepressants in her system. Managed to convince a court-appointed psychiatrist/evaluator that she had since recovered and should have 50-50 custody.
Through my research and money and my lawyer's acumen -- the judge upheld my sole custody, which had been "temporary" up until his ruling.

Bill collectors affect credit. She probably doesn't care. I would guess legal action could more response as she may face jail time....coming from someone who fought to have my child and got 50/50 I would be happy if my ex would just go away. Happily pay 100% to have her with no child support, but I pay out the arse to my ex right now so I'm coming from a different angle.

Man I love seeing tables turned.
I don't have any kids but have friends that have been dry fricked by the system and will say La Social Services is a joke and complete racket. They try to act like it's for the kids but make sure they skim their percentage off the top before ANYONE gets paid. Reminds me of the Unions

My ex has gone through 5 lawyers now. I too got permanent sole custody, and because of her lack of cooperation I am considering going after child support.
After speaking to my attorney, she suggests going through the DA.
