re: Top 5 College Football QBs of the 1990s?

I still question how much of an impact Frazier really had Nebraska. They won the national championship in 1994 with him out for most of the year with blood clots. In 1996, Nebraska averaged 42 PPG which was good for 3rd in the nation. In 1997, they led the nation in scoring at 47 PPG. They really didn't miss a beat on offense after he left. Tom Osborne had a machine rolling at Nebraska in the '90s. They could have plugged Jordan Jefferson at QB and still won a ton of games.

how many times did Wuerffel beat Manning when they played?
Wuerffel won every matchup.

There's no way they would've choked like they did in 96 with Frazier still there instead of the ginger assassin Scott Frost.

There are a few full 1995 Nebraska games on YouTube if you ever get a chance to watch one. Frazier was unbelievable and seemingly never made a bad read. Also his TD run against Florida was as good as any run any college football player has ever made. Option teams get their yards from the decision making of the QB, and Nebraska ran for over 500 yards against Florida in that national title game.

3x NCG MVP.
That seems impressive but then again in the 95 orange bowl he won MVP going 3 for 5 passing for 25 yards and ran 7 times for 39 yards and had no TDs in the game. And as another poster mentioned they went undefeated with him missing 75% of the season. Seems like they were just an all around dominant team.

That's a fair argument. Like I said I never got to see those teams play so I don't know a ton of their system so if that's why people are ranking him that high I'll buy it, I just couldn't tell from looking at his stats

Scott Frost didn't cost them the Texas game. First of all, their entire team got sick with the flu the night before the game. Second, their defense gave up 37 points and over 500 yards. Their defense cost them that game.

Didn't Michael Vick play a season in the 90s? Yes, yes he did.
1. Michael Vick

Jesus.
So now it isn't merely that "QBs are winning the games", but that a game is in fact a matchup of one quarterback v. another. Yeah, that makes total sense. They're totally playing "against" each other. Who couldn't see such an obvious truth?
Stated differently: shoot me in the goddamn face.

The real mismatch was Spurrier vs. Fulmer.
Both teams had tons of talent.

Michael Bishop deserves more love in this thread

Florida always took away Peyton's running game and then turned the pass rush loose on him. He didn't handle the pass rush well, which resulted in bad passes and interceptions. Rinse, repeat for four straight years.

Bishop was a JUCO transfer who only played 2 years at KSt. Only 1 year was remarkable.
Posted on 2/25/15 at 9:34 pm to VADawg
Not true. Jay Graham had a good amount of yards one year.

Wuerffel was absolutely a better college qb than manning, it's not debatable.

He asked a question, I'm not using that to say Wuerffel was better.

Please, nobody was scoring on ASU that game!

Especially when the same exact team minus Peyton beat us and won it all in 98.
