It is fun to drive and still turns heads. Must have been a tight squeeze for you and your brother!

I think I saw that exact truck last week in Scott, La. The driver looked exactly like the dude in your picture.

I know exactly what truck you're talking about. It's actually an Apache fleetside. Used to see that old guy almost weekly on my drive to work and actually saw him on Saturday.

You hit the nail on the head in your post. My dad would slowly pull up to and slowly pull away from cars on the Interstate and everyone would be staring.

Yes, a pain back there but it was worth it. Alas, he bought the Cutlass and we could see the scenery instead of the sky.

Certainly a beautiful car, but c'mon. I see your Corvette and raise you a Lamborghini (well over $150K though)

Agree, I'm not a big fan on mid-year Vettes.

The Miura and series 1 XKE are in an elite class, and that is among automotive designers, just not my opinion.

Real tough to lose money on a well-sorted classic car.

They ain't making more of 'em and restoration costs aren't going down.

Just don't confuse "rare" with "desirable" .
If they only made 37 Warbonnet Yellow Corvettes with green interior, it's b/c they were ugly.
IIRC, the most sought after classic cars are usually the ones that were popular when people who are now 50-70 were teenagers/young adults. Auto restoration isn't a poor man's hobby, so most don't get to do it until they are financially well off and have the kids out of school, house paid off, etc. When they get there, they tend to want to go back to their "glory days."

When I was a little kid (late 70s, early 80s), my dad had a Model A that he restored (doesn't fit the pattern I described, admittedly). Car shows were covered up with Model As, Ts, and the occasional Chevy or Buick from the era. By the time I was in high school, the 50s Chevys were all the rage. Now, the the late 60s, early 70s muscle cars are all the rage (some of which has to do with the affinity for big-block, American muscle cars , a nostalgia for something that's not made anymore).

What I wouldn't do for a 2000 GT. God damn I love this car ever since I saw it in You Only Live Twice.

Beautiful cars. I'm not sure why Toyota didn't make more of them or continue pursuing high end sports cars in the early 70s.

If I'm not mistaken, a 2000 GT would bring well over $1M at auction now.

The 300SLs have gone crazy. Over $1M for a nicely restored one. Not even perfectly restored.

Funny thing is, they are known to be very uncomfortable to drive. And getting in and out of them sucks, as the seat is well away from the door opening.

But they are gorgeous.

My uncle had one of these when I was kid.

It passed everything but the gas station.

Beg to differ. I find the resto mod, lowered stance of these absolutely beautiful. This one is likely on air ride so its sitting lower than ride height but lowered is a good look on this car.

That goes without saying. I want to drive it, not be profiled in it.
