Coleman Lanterns

I remember a decent thread about collecting these a year or so ago that sparked my interest. I was cruising a local pawn shop on my lunch break and came across a model 220K. I gave the guy $20 for it. I think I did okay. He had $29.99 on it.
Quick research reveals they stopped making these in 1983 but it's not rare by any means.
How'd I do for my first piece?

Well done. Those white gas lanterns seem to burn brighter than the newer propane one. The only pesky thing about them is that leather grommet in the pump wearing out.

I know nothing about these really. I'm currently watching youtube video's about them...
I did cover the hole and press the pump a few times and it had pressure. Apparently that's good.

Little mineral oil every few months keeps them in good shape for years. In the OP's case I'd go ahead and order a new set and get some nokona rubbed into them. I have a Coleman dual fuel burner I keep for emergency purposes and it's a little beast. Their old stuff is way better than the newer propane crap.

All you need now is the case.
You can find them on eBay for about $20.

How easy is it to get replacement parts I have one that was passed down when my grandfather passed. The globe is gone.

Hot summer nights pops used to hang 4-5 of those on the stumps at Bussey Brake about dusk. The skeeters and bugs would get all over em, burn to death and fall in the water attracting bait fish. About 10 o'clock the perch would be all over them. Fish one lamp, catch 10-12 ease over to the next one. Do it all night. Fun shite.

That sounds like a blast and smart too.

My father and uncle would used one at night on the Atchafalaya to catch catfish.

Keep some spare mantels handy. Especially if you have the lantern in one hand and a beer in the other.

These things are nearly indestructible and can always be rebuilt. I have one from the 1980's that works like a charm. I want to find 2-3 of the dual fuels since I use gasoline for my vehicles, generators, etc.

Lesson 1:
When you hang it from a tree by the handle, the handle will be hot to the touch.
Just trust me.

I got some dual fuel stuff (stove and lantern) in the late 90s and it seems pretty solid - comparable to the old school stuff - I was never sold on the propane stuff for camping.
