Last year Jindal proposed that LSU needed to build a statue of Pistol Pete out in front of the stadium. The stadium is named after him which is very nice, but I'm with him about having a statue of the greatest player ever on the campus.
Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything about this possibly happening? I read that it had to go through some Hall of Fame committee or something first.
Would be a great tribute to the greatest Tiger ever!

I wouldn't mind a pistol statue.

The arena is named after him, what do you need the statue for?
It's one thing to have a statue out front like Shaq, it's another when they name the building after you.

Plenty people besides me would love to see one also. Because it would be a great symbol of who he was. The greatest player ever.

it would be cool but I think there must be something tied in with the LSU HoF rule about having to have graduated, when I was at LSU it was called "the assembly center" and all of the students would call it the PMAC or the house that Pete built, etc., there seemed to be quite a pushback from the powers that were towards associating the building with him at the time

to be in the LSU hall of fame you have to have a degree, but a statue isn't the hall of fame. Not all the baseball players with plaques around Alex Box graduated.

interesting thing I just found while looking at the LSU HoF, we have more Boxers in the HoF than Baseball players.

Maybe the graduating thing is the entire hold up on it. I just feel it's a shame we don't have Pete out there when people come to see. Having his statue would not only be a tribute to him but to all that have seen him play and past LSU basketball players that have played with him.

Wow I didn't know about the boxers. You're right! It should have nothing to do with a statue being built. Plenty of the baseball players on plaques didn't graduate either.

Iv always thought there should be a "Legends Lane" or something out by the Mike Statue. Put up statues of Bob Petit, Pete Maravich, Shaq...then put up Billy Cannon, Y.A. Tittle, and Tommy Hodson on the other. Baseball has its own statue section by the Box.

I cannot say he was the best player ever, but he did change how the game was played!!! No onbefore him was doing the things he did with a basketball, never, and they had good players before and during his era...Man was he something to see with a basketball in his hands!!! Floppy hair and drooping socks made it a sight to behold!!!

Definitely need a statue!!!
