Jeep Grand Cherokee OR Toyota 4Runner

Plan to buy a slighty used 4Runner (limited) or Grand Cherokee (Overland) in the next few months... budget is around $35k
I was leaning towards the 4Runner for reliability purposes, but the Grand Cherokee is sexy as hell.
Talk me into one or the other...

If you want to buy a new transmission and brakes and have the blue book value plummet after a year get the jeep

Love both of them. But I'd probably go with the JGC depending on what you plan on using it for.
it would be nice if the 4runner had a V8 option

Just got a 4Runner. Nice looking car and drives much better than JGC. You can run for them for 150K.

My in laws have a Jeep GC Overland. It is a very nicely appointed vehicle. I particularly like the adjustable airbag suspension.

Subaru Outback. Do the research. Dumped my oversized SUV and bought an Outback Ltd. Great decision.

Get a jeep if you can get one with a V8. Cherokee is also a little bigger than the 4Runner.
That being said, we just bought a 2015 4Runner and like it A LOT. SR5 premium, step under Limited.
I like both of them, especially the limited and the overland.

I just bought my wife a 15 explorer sport. She loves it. Ended it up right at 44k.
Those rear seatbelts have airbags built in. Thought that was pretty cool for the kids. That EcoBoost is no joke. It'll run.

4Runners looked so much better before Toyota turned them into a soccer mom vehicle

Is this a joke? 4Runner will last forever, Jeep will fall apart.

I have a Tacoma 4x4 and the wife has a Grand Cherokee. Both are quality trucks but, the Tacoma is the better of the two. The Jeep is getting very noisy due to air leaks around the door seals. It is annoying. No mechanical problems with either vehicles.
I would get the 4runner.

We've had a 4-runner for 18 years now and never a problem.

I don't want to tell you your business, but if you're driving the whole tribe cross country, the family truckster is the way to go

I bought a JGC about 6 months ago and love it. Also looked at 4 Runners, but didn't care for the looks of it. That's just a personal preference thing, you can't go wrong with either.
