LSU offense ranked at 12? ESPN loves LSU!

Zero chance we end up with a top 5 preseason rating.

Aww we still have an entire offseason to survive. Hopefully without the loses of key pieces to next year's puzzle.

The whole western division is in the top 22????
Bet it doesn't end that way.

Disagree. Broken down in sections for the FPI, the Tigers' defense and special teams certainly deserve those rankings. Factor in the 17 ranking for offense is defined by most believing that the Tigers' rushing attack will be all but unstoppable next season. Maybe a slight gamble thrown in that the passing attack will be improved to at least mediocre, a notch above pathetic and Voila! A damn high ranking for a damn strong football team.

Ehh...no way I can put LSU that high until they figure out the quarterback situation.

why? we almost put together the greatest single season resume in history with Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson

Great point. Also, remember the FPI is more about the talent levels of each group; O, D And ST, than the projection of a team ranking for winning the NC. This is why they make the point that last year's pre-season FPI did equate to great play on the field with 3 of the top 4 actually getting into the playoffs. The Tigers do look like a top 4 team on D and ST. Their rushing attack looks like it should be fantastic. So much so, that even a mediocre passing attack(like 2011 let's say) could propel this team into being a championship contender. It won't take long to figure that out this coming season. If LSU is 3-0 they will likely go into Tuscaloosa undefeated and ranked somewhere in the top 5.

Because we weren't very good last year. We squeaked out a win against Wisconsin, beaten pretty bad against Miss. State, destroyed by Auburn, squeaked out a win against an average at best Florida team, couldn't finish the Alabama game, shutout and stomped by Arkansas, and lost to Notre Dame. The team was average at best. I see no reason (given our quarterback situation) why we should be ranked at #3.
