So for $20 you get 12 channels: ESPN, TNT, CNN, HGTV and the Disney Channel and some others

Sports Extra ($5) – Networks include: SEC Network, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Buzzer Beater, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Bases Loaded, Univision Deportes, Universal Sports, and beIN Sports

so $25 for all --- no contract.

If ESPN would just go ala cart, they would make a mint and all of us would only have to pay $5 a month.

Very interesting. That Sports package is way better than expected. I wonder why they don't have ESPN2 though. The rare time my team has a game there would be frustrating.

Kids 50 years from now will laugh hysterically at our cable system of today. Biggest ripoff to the consumer. Up there with diamonds & mattresses.

I think something that shouldn't be overlooked is the easier advertising dollars made with direct subscriptions.

Companies will know exactly who is watching ESPN. The field becomes much more narrowed, and they can pinpoint their ads to appeal to the specific audience.

ESPN could make up some lost revenue from subscriptions with advertisement sales.
